Es hat wieder geschneit! Ich liebe es mit meiner Kleinen im Garten Schneemänner zu bauen. Wir sind schon richtige Profis.

It was snowing again! I love to build snowmen in the garden with my girlie. We are quite good in that!

Evil Spirits - Böse Geister

Heute haben uns wieder die Sternsinger besucht. Für mich ist das immer der Abschluss der Weihnachtszeit. 

Today the Star Boys' Singing Procession visited us. For me, this is always the end of the Christmas time.

Und sie lassen auch immer Weihrauch zum Räuchern da. Da ich diese Tradition lustig finde (böse Geister, schlechte Gefühle und Gedanken aus dem Haus mit Weihrauch vertreiben), habe ich mir diese Räucherpfanne und eine Anleitung besorgt und los ging es. Meine Kleine fand es lustig, dass wir mit der Räucherpfanne bis auf den Dachboden stiegen und durch jedes Zimmer gingen und auch in den Gartenschuppen. Wenn's was hilft, wieso nicht?

And they left some incense. Since I found this tradition amusing (chasing away evil spirits, bad feelings and thoughts with incense), I have bought this censer, looked for a guide and started to do it. My little one found it funny that we walk with the censer to the attic and through every room and even into the garden shed. If it works why not?

In einem Dekoladen habe ich zwei qualitativ hochwertige und günstige Tischläufer gefunden, die als Tischläufer nicht viel hermachen, aber als Einkaufstaschen sehr stylish und praktisch sind.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - PROSIT 2011

Immer zum Jahreswechsel wird bei uns in Österreich die "Pummerin" im Wiener Stephansdom geläutet. Sie wurde aus bei der Zweiten Wiener Türkenbelagerung 1683 zurückgelassenen Kanonen gegossen. Die drittgrößte Glocke Europas wird nur zum Jahreswechsel und bei höchsten kirchlichen Anlässen geläutet und von Radio- und TV-Stationen aufgezeichnet und übertragen. Danach wird traditionell der Donauwalzer von Johann Strauss gespielt.

Auch wenn wir gerade noch so Party gemacht haben, um Punkt Mitternacht wird auf Programm "Pummerin" geschalten und Walzer getanzt. Das gehört mit zu meinen liebsten Kindheitserinnerungen.

Always at midnight New Year's Eve the "Pummerin" in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral is rung here in Austria. The bell was cast of Turkish guns and cannons which where left behind at the Second Turkish Siege of Vienna in 1683. Europe's third largest bell is rung only at the turn of the year and at the highest church events and will be recorded and transmitted by radio and TV stations. Then traditionally the DanubeWaltz by Johann Strauss is played.

Although we have the wildest party at midnight will be switched to program "Pummerin" and we waltz. This is one of my favorite childhood memories.
