Mein Mädchen stöberte in meinem Wäscheschrank und sie fand zwei uralte Nachthemden von mir, die ich in meinen Zwanzigern trug, aber durch ihre Kürze leider nicht mehr mit meinen Oberschenkel kombinierbar sind ;)
Also setzte ich kurzerhand beherzt den Cutter an und nähte ratzfatz zwei Nachthemden für mein Mädchen. Oder auch Freizeitkleidchen für den Garten oder was auch immer. Ihr gefällt's, sind ja Rüschen dran.

My girl rummaged in my linen closet and found two ancient nightgowns of mine that I wore in my twenties, but the shortness of the shirts can no longer be combined with my thighs ;)

So I took spirited my rotary cutter and sewed quickly two nightgowns for my girlie. Or spare time dresses for the garden or whatever. She likes them, they have ruffles.

Blood Donation - Blutspenden

Vor ein paar Tagen war ich mal wieder Blutspenden. Für mich ist das ein wichtiges Thema, da ich selber bei der Geburt meiner Tochter einige Blutkonserven benötigte. Seitdem gehe ich regelmäßig, schließlich war ich ja was schuldig. Nun ja, ich glaube, dass wir jetzt quitt sind (ich und die Blutbank), trotzdem werde ich weiterhin 1-2 mal jährlich Blut spenden. Bei uns im Ort gibt es zweimal im Jahr die Möglichkeit vor Ort zu spenden. Es ist immer lustig. Die Ärzte sind gut gelaunt und man trifft viele bekannte Gesichter. Hinterher gibt es Frankfurter Würstel mit Gebäck und Getränke und Manner Schnitten. Und außerdem bekommt man seinen Blutbefund nach Hause zugeschickt. Auch nicht schlecht.

A few days ago I was once again donating blood. For me, this is an important issue because I needed myself at the birth of my daughter several blood transfusions. How to make a storage container using a plastic bottle

Diese Idee habe ich im Internet irgendwo gesehen und mir im Hinterkopf gemerkt. Es war gar nicht so einfach Plastikflaschen zu bekommen, da ich keine kaufe, wenn es das Produkt auch in einer Glasflasche gibt.

I've seen this idea somewhere on the internet and I noticed that in mind. It was not easy to get plastic bottles because I do not buy them if the product is also available in glass bottles.

Man nimmt eine Plastikflasche und schneidet den oberen Teil ab, soviel wie man will und macht in den oberen Rand Löcher rein. Bei hartem Plastik braucht man eine Bohrmaschine, bei dünnem Plastik geht auch die Lochzange. Die Löcher sollten möglichst nahe, etwa 5 mm, und im gleichmäßig Abstand gebohrt werden.

You take a plastic bottle and cut off the upper part, as much as you want, and make holes in the top end. In case of hard plastic, you need a drill, with thin plastic use a hole punch. The holes should be as close as possible, about 0.2 in, and drilled in regular spaces.

Dann beginnt der lustige kreative Teil. Mit Häkelnadel und Wolle kann man den oberen Teil gestalten wie man will. Durch die Löcher werden feste Maschen gehäkelt und ab der nächsten Reihe könnt ihr den Schließteil gestalten. Gut wäre in der ersten Reihe Maschen zuzunehmen, damit nachher die Öffnung etwas auseinander fällt und man leichter mit der Hand reinkommt.

Now the fun creative part begins. With crochet hook and yarn you can make the top as you want. Work single crochet through the holes and from the next row you can form the closing part. It would be good to increase stitches in the first row, so that the opening will be a little wider and more comfortable to use.

In der letzten Reihe habe ich abwechselnd 2 Stäbchen, 2 Luftmaschen, 1 Masche auslassen, 2 Stäbchen gehäkelt und eine Luftmaschenkette eingezogen. So kann man den Behälter auch praktisch aufhängen. Verziert habe ich die Behälter mit Häkel-Button, Häkelblümchen und Perlen. Im Kinderzimmer mangelt es nicht an Kram, den man da gleich reinpacken kann.

In the last row, I have alternately worked 2 dc, 2 chains, skip 1 stitch, 2 dc and used a crochet chain for closure. So you can hang the container on a hook. I have decorated them with a crochet button and crocheted flowers and the green in the middle with beads. In girlies playroom there is no shortage of stuff that you could pack in the storage containers.

Super zum Reste verwerten. Und im Sommer kann man sie auch als kurze Hosen im Garten anziehen. Bei dem Höschen aus gleichen Stoff, habe ich vorne noch ein Schleifchen mit Perle draufgenäht, damit meine Kleine schnell weiß, wo hinten und vorne ist.

Fat Tuesday - Faschingsdienstag

Was in Deutschland der Rosenmontag, ist in Österreich der Faschingsdienstag. Der letzte Tag des Faschings wird hier nochmal ausgiebig gefeiert. Ich bin ja nicht so für das Faschingstreiben, schon als Kind mochte ich das nicht so besonders. Aber meine Kleine verkleidet sich gerne und malt sich auch gerne an. Heute ist im Kindergarten "Pyjamaparty". Das war ja wohl einfach zu machen. Aber wir waren auch Eisprinzessin und Burgfräulein.

What's the Rose Monday in Germany, is Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) in Austria. The last day of Carnival is celebrated here extensively. I'm so not for the carnival, even as a child I did not like it so much. But my little girl likes dressing up and painting her face. Today in kindergarten is "Pajama Party". That was easy to do. But we were also ice princess and damsel.

Das ist eine kleine Vorschau auf kommende Projekte. Momentan habe ich das Problem zu viele Sachen gleichzeitig zu beginnen und keines zu Ende zu bringen. Hihi, kennt das jemand?
Vielleicht liegt es auch daran, dass wir gerade an unseren Urlaubsplänen feilen. Da wir ja jetzt wieder ein fahrtüchtiges und zuverlässiges Auto haben, werden wir gleich zweimal ausfahren. Zuerst ein paar Tage Venedig im Frühling und dann eine Woche Toskana zu Beginn des Sommers. Da haben wir uns am Wochenende doch gleich den Film "Unter der Sonne der Toskana" angesehen, auch mein Mann (ist ja doch eher ein Frauenfilm). Immer wenn eine schöne Landschaftsaufnahme zu sehen war, haben wir beide gleichzeitig aufgeschrien "Da fahren wir hin!".

Maybe it's because we just plan our vacation. Since we have a new car, we will make two trips. First, a few days in Venice in spring and then a week in Tuscany at the beginning of the summer. Last weekend we watched the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun", even my husband (it's still more of a chick flick). Whenever a beautiful landscape was visible, we both cried out simultaneously "There we are going?".

Ich habe die Wollkiste meiner Mutter bekommen. Da war ich wirklich sehr dankbar, waren doch tolle Schätze dabei. Aber leider auch nicht so tolle und die schleppe ich schon seit Jahren mit. Knots in Wool - Knoten in der Wolle

Ich hasse das! Das hier ist zwar ein uraltes Wollknäuel, aber leider schon der etwa vierte oder fünfte Knoten. Gut, vor 20 Jahren war man vielleicht noch nicht so weit einen einwandfreien Endlosstrang zu machen. Aber auch in neu gekauften Knäuel kommt immer wieder mal ein Knoten vor. In der modernen Wollverarbeitung muss es doch möglich sein, dass die Enden irgendwie miteinander verwebt oder verfilzt werden.
Bei Knoten habe ich immer Angst, dass sie aufgehen könnten, daher schneide ich sie raus und vernähe die Enden. Wie macht ihr das?

I hate that! This is indeed an ancient ball of wool but unfortunately the approximately fourth or fifth knot. Well, 20 years ago they were perhaps not ready to make a proper continuous strand. But also in newly purchased balls every now and then comes a node. In the modern wool industry, it must be possible that the ends are somehow interwoven or felted.

I'm always afraid that knots might come loose, so I cut them off and sew in the ends. How do you do it?

In den letzten Tagen habe ich leider nichts kreatives gemacht, da ich einen kleinen Haushaltsunfall hatte. Ich sage nur KATZE - VASE - SCHERBEN - AUA. Ärgerlich! Schmerzhaft! Und so ungünstig am rechten Zeigefinger. Aber dadurch habe ich mal wieder, durch Empfehlung eines Freundes, ein neues Produkt kennen gelernt. Die Wunde würde ja schnell heilen, wenn man nicht dauernd mit Wasser pritscheln würde. Gestern waren wir 4 Stunden in der Therme und der Schnitt schaut trotzdem ganz gut aus.

Unfortunately I've done nothing creative recently because I had a minor household accident. I'm just saying CAT – VASE – BROKEN GLASS - OUCH. Annoying! Painful! And so unfavorable to the right index finger. But thanks to a friend's recommendation, I met a new product. The wound would heal quickly but not when your finger gets wet all the time. Yesterday we were swimming for 4 hours in a spa and the cut still looks pretty good.

Frost Flowers - Eisblumen

Ich schicke euch einen eisigen Blumengruß. Der Frost hat uns fest in der Hand, heute -16°C. Bei meiner Mutter ist die Haustüre eingefroren (oder durch den Frost so verzogen, dass sie sich nicht öffnen lässt). Sie kann aber noch durch die Garage das Haus verlassen. Ich kann mich noch an schulfreie Tage erinnern, weil die Schulheizung bei -30°C den Geist aufgegeben hat. Also ich will's mal nicht verschreien. Ich hoffe ihr habt ein warmes kuscheliges Plätzchen zum Aussitzen der Eiszeit.

She can still leave the house through the garage. I remember of non-school days because the school heating system failed at -22F. So I don’t want to speak too soon! Hope you have a warm cozy place to face out the ice age.

Flying Carpets - Fliegende Teppiche

Jetzt kommt die Erklärung für mein schmerzendes Handgelenk. Mit den bereits erwähnten Strickschnüren häkle ich Teppiche und das ist mit der Zeit wirklich anstrengend. Als Näherin ist man das gar nicht mehr gewöhnt und bevor ich mir eine Sehnenscheidenentzündung einfange, mache ich mal gaaaaz laaaangsam.
Also, nun zur Vorgeschichte. Diesen Teppich hatte ich schon vor etwa 20 Jahren gemacht und fliegt seitdem mit mir herum. Vor 4 Jahren haben wir unseren Hund bekommen und da war's um ihn geschehen. Genau in der Mitte hat er rumgebissen. Lange hat's mich gestört und jetzt habe ich ihn wieder aufgeribbelt.

Now this is the explanation for my aching wrist. With the before mentioned i-cords I crochet rugs and that is getting hard when I work some time. As a seamstress I am not used to it and before I get tendinitis I work very slow with lots of breaks.

So, now the story. This carpet I had already made about 20 years ago and since then it flies around with me. 4 years ago we got our dog and that was not good for the rug. Right in the middle he bit a hole. Bothered me all the time but now I ripped it off. Wound it and tied it and washed it in the washing machine.

Dann die Wolle aufgewickelt, zusammengebunden und in die Waschmaschine damit. Es hat mich erstaunt in welch gutem Zusand die Strickschnur noch war. Nur minimal musste ich abgewetzte Teile rausschneiden. Diesmal habe ich mich für eine Hexagonform entschieden.

It was amazing how good the condition of the i-cord was. I had to cut out only minimally timeworn parts. This time I crochet a hexagon.

Und hier sind noch meine anderen Teppiche. Der rosafarbene ist auch noch ein unvollendeter, es fehlt noch ein kleines Stück rosa Rand. Der kommt ins Kinderzimmer.

Und das ist der größte Teppich (passt aber immer noch in die Waschmaschine) und liegt im Nähzimmer unter meinem Tisch.

And that's the biggest carpet (but still fits in the washing machine) and is located in the sewing room under my table. I will finish the two rugs and then I have another project in mind.

Die zwei begonnenen Teppiche werde ich noch fertig machen und dann habe ich schon ein anderes (gelenkschonenderes) Projekt im Kopf.
