Ich habe mir Das etwas andere Nähbuch gekauft, ein unglaublich inspirierendes Buch. Poppy Treffry zeigt wie Freihandnähen mit der Nähmaschine funktioniert. Ich habe das zwar noch nicht so hinbekommen, aber folgendes ist entstanden. Es macht unglaublich viel Spaß, mit Stoff zu malen. Am liebsten mache ich Häuser und Gärten. 

I bought this incredibly inspiring book. Poppy Treffry shows how to do free style stitching with a sewing machine. Although I am still learning and trying, the following came out. There's a lot of fun to paint with fabric. I like to make homes and gardens.

Ich liebe diese Apfelschälmaschine! Eine Freundin schenkte sie mir zu Weihnachten und seitdem gehen die Äpfel weg wie warme Semmeln. 

Got this machine from a friend as a Christmas gift and I love it! You put the apple on the spit and start winding. The apple will be peeled, stoned and sliced in a spiral. Isn't that great! My girlie loves to eat apples now because of the show before.

Ratet mal was das für ein Gemüse ist, das meine Kleine da in Händen hält? Wobei ich sagen muss, dass ich es stehen und wachsen ließ bis es blühte. Normalerweise pflückt man es schon, wenn es kleiner ist, aber das hier habe ich lange übersehen und dann wollte ich wissen, wie groß es werden wird.

Wrist Warmers - Stulpen

Endlich habe ich mir auch so praktische und kuschelige Stulpen gestrickt. Ich trage sie beim Schlafen. Da es jetzt wieder kälter wird und wir im Schlafzimmer eher kühl nächtigen, sind diese Stulpen ein Traum. Ich habe sie einfach mit einem Nadelspiel gerade hoch gestrickt. Durch das Ajourmuster wirkt die eher dicke Wolle leicht und luftig. 

At last I've knitted practical and cozy cuffs just for me. I wear them while sleeping. Since it is colder now and our bedroom is rather cool, these cuffs are simply a dream. I have knitted them straight up with double pointed needles. The lacy patterns gives the rather thick wool a light and airy appearance.

Häkelmütze - Crochet Cap

Schon vor Monaten habe ich mir das E-Book Emily von Be Pretty by Betae für eine Häkelmütze gekauft und gestern nachmittag habe ich mich endlich dazugesetzt. Die Mütze ist total einfach zu häkeln und die Wirkung ist unglaublich. Meine Kleine wurde heute im Kindergarten schon sehr bewundert. Ich habe nur reines Baumwollgarn verwendet, allerdings in unterschiedlichen Qualitäten, weil ich nur Reste verarbeitet habe. 

Months ago I bought the e-book for crochet cap Emily by Be Pretty by Beate and yesterday afternoon I finally got time to make it. The cap is totally easy to crochet and the effect is incredible. My little one was admired today in kindergarten. I have used pure cotton yarn, but in different qualities, because I only took remnants.

A Dress For My Princess - Ein Kleidchen für meine Prinzessin

Ich wollte schon seit Ewigkeiten ein Prinzessinnenkleid für meine Kleine nähen und nun in den Ferien habe ich es tatsächlich geschafft. Ging auch Ratz-Fatz, wenn man sich mal dazugesetzt hat! 
Zutaten: ein rosa und ein rotes Bettlaken, ein alter Vorhang, ein Geschenkband aus Stoff, ein kleines Appli

I've wanted for ages a princess dress for my little one now and in the holidays I've actually done it. It was ready very fast once started! Ingredients: a pink and a red sheet, an old curtain, a ribbon, an applicator.

Ich habe ja erst kürzlich über Schätze gesprochen - nun ich habe schon wieder einen gefunden. Am Sonntag haben wir meine Mutter besucht und im Laufe des Nachmittags hat sie auf einmal diese Schachteln angeschleppt. MEINE LEGO KÜCHE!!!

Hab einen Schatz gefunden - Found A Treasure

Und zwar in meinen eigenen Haus. Angefangen hat die Geschichte ja, dass ich ganz was anderes gesucht habe. Eine alte Vorhangspitze musste sich noch irgendwo im Haus befinden und damit will ich gerade jetzt ein Prinzessinnenkleid für meine Kleine nähen. Gefunden habe ich den alten Vorhang zwar nicht, aber eine Schachtel, die wir vor acht Jahren als wir in unser Haus einzogen, in einen wenig benutzten Schrank stellten. Bei meiner Suchaktion habe ich auch diese hervorgeholt und reingeguckt und ... Strumpfhosen, Strümpfe, Socken und Hüte gefunden. Ich hatte total vergessen, dass ich früher im Winter Hüte auf hatte. Die gefallen mir auch jetzt noch total gut. Und mein Mann freute sich riesig über eine Ladung teilweise nagelneuer Socken. Ich sollte mir vielleicht Sorgen machen, dass wir uns über Hüte und Socken so freuen???

Found it in my own house. The story began that I was looking for something else. An old lace curtain had to be somewhere in the house and right now I will sew a princess dress for my little girlie. I haven't found the old curtain but a box which we put in a little used closet when we moved in our house eight years ago. I opened it and found ... tights, stockings, socks and hats. I had totally forgotten that I wore hats in the past in winter. I like them even now really well. And my husband was very happy about a bunch of brand new socks. Perhaps I should be worried about our joy at hats and socks???

Ich liebe dieses Geschäft! Mein Mann, meine Kleine (4) und ich haben am letzten Urlaubstag noch zwei kreative Stunden dort verbracht. Ich wollte einen Teller mit dem Handabdruck von meiner Kleinen haben, mein Mann probierte einen Fisch und Lili suchte sich einen Schmetterling aus. Sie hat das ganz alleine mit Hingabe angemalt, ich habe nur die Augen und den Mund gemacht. Das hat wieder mal echt Spaß gemacht!

I love this shop! My husband, my little one (4) and I have spent two creative hours there. I wanted a dish with the palm of my little one, my husband tried a little fish and Lili picked out a butterfly. She has painted all alone with dedication, I have made only eyes and mouth. This was great fun!

Aus peinlich wird hübsch - Turn Embarrassing Into Pretty

Ihr kennt das sicher auch: In einer Lade stapeln sich Werbetaschen aus Stoff, die man vor Wahlen von Parteien geschenkt bekommt oder von Unternehmen, wo man seit 10 Jahren nicht mehr arbeitet oder vom Fleischhauer, von einer Bank oder einer Reparaturwerkstätte. Egal! Fakt ist, man kann sich mit diesen Taschen nicht auf die Straße trauen und als Einkaufstasche sind sie auch immer zu klein.

You know it well: stacked in a drawer are shopping bags made of fabric that you get before elections by political parties or from companies, where one no longer works or from the butcher, a bank or a repair shop. No matter! Fact is, it is too embarrassing using these bags and they are too small as grocery bag.

Little Garden Sensation - Kleine Gartensensation

Nun - für mich jedenfalls! Vor 7 Jahren habe ich unsere Yucca Palme im Garten umgepflanzt. Seitdem war sie beleidigt, bis jetzt. Seit kurzem tut sich was, es schaut aus als wollte sie blühen. Ich werde ein Bild posten, wenn es soweit ist. 

Well - at least for me! 7 years ago I transplanted our yucca palm tree in the garden. Since then, the plant was offended, until now. It looks like as it wanted to bloom. I will post apicture when the time comes.

Meine Zucchiniernte hat begonnen. An dieser Pflanze liebe ich alles! Einfachheit der Aufzucht, Robustheit, Blätter, Blüten und Früchte. Zucchinis sind einfach wunderschön!  

Zucchini harvest in my garden has begun. I love everything at this plant! Ease of rearing, robustness, leaves, flowers and fruits. Courgettes are just gorgeous!

Reiche Beute - Lot Of Loot

Ich war im Himmel! Und zwar bei Textil Müller!

I was in heaven! Factory Textil Müller!

Meine Freundin erzählte mir von einem Fabriksverkauf von Stoffen und Nähzubehör in der Nähe von Wien. Gestern war ich dort und war überwältigt. Auf 2 Fabrikshallen-Stockwerken befindet sich alles was man zum Nähen braucht. Es ist zwar chaotisch, unordentlich und staubig. Die Gänge zwischen den Regalen gerade so breit, dass sich 2 Leute aneinander vorbeischieben können, wenn man den Bauch einzieht. Aber die Preise bewegen sich alle im Cent-Bereich und die Auswahl ist unglaublich. Ich war wie erschlagen! Kind und Mann habe ich gleich mal zum Spielplatz gegenüber geschickt, aber nach einer Stunde wurde ihnen langweilig und daher bin ich in die Stoffabteilung gar nicht gekommen. Außerdem werde ich mich beim nächsten Besuch besser vorbereiten und eine detaillierte Liste schreiben. 

My friend told me about a factory sale of fabrics and sewing supplies near Vienna. I was there yesterday and was overwhelmed. On the two-storey factory building is all you need to sew. Although it is chaotic, messy and dusty. The aisles between the shelves just so broad that two people can push past each other when one moves in the belly. But prices are moving all in the cents area and the selection is amazing. I was struck! I have sent child and hubby over to the playground, but after an hour they were bored and therefore I haven't seen the fabrics department yet. For my next visit I will be better prepared and write a detailed list.

Birthday Gift For My Friend - Geburtstagsgeschenk für meine Freundin

Den kleinen Beutel habe ich für meine Freundin Andrea zum Geburtstag genäht. 

I made this small bag for my friend Andrea as a birthday gift. 

Und außerdem gab's noch umhäkelte Steine. Die Idee hab ich im Netz gefunden und finde sie toll! Die Steine sind dekorativ und man kann sie als Briefbeschwerer und Dekoobjekte benutzen. Super um Woll- und Garnreste zu verarbeiten. Die Steine kann man farblich passend zum Einrichtungsstil behäkeln. Ich habe sie zwischen meinen Blumentöpfen auf der Fensterbank liegen!

And besides I also gave her crocheted stones. I saw this great idea on the net. The stones are very decorative and you can use them as paperweights and deco objects. Good way to use up wool and yarn remnants. The stone cover can be crocheted in a color matching the interior style. I have them between my flower pots on the windowsill!

Vor Jahren habe ich mir schon das Zubehör für die Serviettentechnik besorgt. Mit meinem Neffen habe ich einen Bilderrahmen verschönert, aber seitdem nicht mehr damit gearbeitet. Ganz plötzlich ist mir das im Zuge der Küchenrenovierung eingefallen und da musste das Garderobenbrett dran glauben.

Years ago I got accessories for the napkin technique. I have once embellished a picture frame with my little nephew, but since then no longer worked with it. All of a sudden during the kitchen renovation I thought the wardrobe board has to be prettified.

Crochet Flower Chain - Häkelblumenkette

Momentan stehe ich ja auf Häkeln! Und hab da neulich eine Anleitung für eine Häkelkette gefunden. Das musste ich gleich mal ausprobieren. Zuerst häkelt man in Grün Blumenmitte, Blätter und Kette in einem Stück solange man sie haben will. Dann häkelt man noch die Blütenblätter in den Farben, die man haben will. Das ist super zum Wollreste aufbrauchen. Ich hatte nur Reste mit hohem Wollanteil und hatte mir die Kette mal um den Hals gewickelt, wärmte sehr schön, muss im Winter toll sein. Aber angenehmer zu tragen ist es sicher in Baumwolle. Das ist jetzt eine Spielkette für meine Kleine (4 J.), aber man kann das auch zum Aufpeppen eines Geschenkes verwenden, als Deko für Fenster, Tisch, Vorhangstangen. Ach ja, und es ist in etwa 2 Stunden fertig! 

Diese Anleitung gibt's leider nicht mehr online, aber auf Crochet Pattern Central gibt es jede Menge Anleitungen für Blumen. Ich habe auch zwei Seiten gefunden, wo Häkel- und Strickbegriffe auf Deutsch und Englisch erklärt werden: maschenzähler designs, wolleunddesign

Right now I'm into crocheting! And recently I found a tutorial for a crochet flower chain. I had to test it. First you crochet with green yarn the middle of flowers, leaves and chain in one piece as long as you want them. Then you crochet the petals in colors you like. This is great to use up your wool remnants. I only had remains with high wool content and I wrapped the chain around my neck, very nicely warmed, it must be great in winter. But it is certainly more comfortable to wear a chain made of cotton. The chain is now a game for my girlie (4y), but you can also use it to spice up a gift, as a decoration for windows, table, curtain rods. Oh, and it is done in about 2 hours!

I didn't find a tutorial in english but maybe you find some instructions on Crochet Pattern Central. But I found two sites, where basic crochet terms are translated from english to german and vice versa: maschenzähler designs, wolleunddesign

Wie macht man einen Blumentopf aus alten Plastikbeutel?

Ich habe schon öfter im Internet gesehen, dass aus alten nicht mehr gebrauchten Dingen neue gemacht werden. Das hat mich schon immer fasziniert, daher wollte ich das selber mal ausprobieren. Die Idee, aus Plastiksackerl Garn zu machen, ist nicht von mir und anlässlich des "Earth Day" griff ich zur Schere.

Dieser Tag soll mich dazu anregen, die Art meines Konsumverhaltens zu überdenken. Nun das tut er. Ich mache schon einiges um dazu beizutragen, dass es unsere Welt noch länger gibt. Vor allem regionale Produkte und Biowaren einkaufen. Aber es gibt immer was zu verbessern oder aus Fehlern zu lernen (siehe die fatale Palmöl-Biosprit Geschichte).

This day should inspire me to rethink the nature of my consumption patterns. Well it does. I've been doing a lot to help ensure that there is our world any longer. Above all, buy local products and organic food. But there is always something to improve or learn from mistakes (look at the fatal palm oil - biofuelstory).

Ich finde es super, wenn Wegwerfprodukten neues Leben eingehaucht wird und diese dadurch wieder benutzt werden können. Hier seht ihr ein paar meiner Up- oder Recyclingprojekte. Mehr findet ihr unter dem Label recycling.
