12tel Blick 2026 - Februar

Der 12tel Blick ist von heute. Ich hatte zwar schon einen vom 14. Februar, aber heute bei genauerer Betrachtung habe ich gesehen, dass ich den Winkel total vergeigt habe. Leider habe ich keine Ausrede mehr, dass ich nicht sofort die Stiegen rauf laufe und neu knipse. Das habe ich dann auch getan und so halbwegs hin bekommen. Nur die Sonne hatte ein Wörtchen mit geredet und immer einen störenden Strahl geschickt. Ist halt jetzt so. Schnee ist weg und es wird warm draußen. Naja jedenfalls so viel, dass Krokus und Schneeglöckchen um die Wette blühen. Momentan steht der Anhänger im Garten, weil mein Mann nochmals Brennholz besorgt hat. Das wird demnächst abgeladen und der Anhänger wieder weg geschoben.

This view is from today. I already took one on February 14th, but upon closer inspection today, I saw that I completely messed up the angle. Unfortunately, I have no excuse anymore not to immediately run up the stairs and take another picture. Which I did, and managed to get a halfway decent result. Only the sun had other ideas, sending along one annoying ray after another. OK, fine. The snow is gone, and it's getting warm outside. Well, warm enough, anyway, that the crocuses and snowdrops are blooming like crazy. The trailer is currently parked in the garden because my husband has bought more firewood. It will be unloaded soon, and the trailer will be moved again. 

12tel Blick 2026 - Jänner

Ich bin wieder mit dabei, beim 12tel Blick. Zurück in meinem Garten. Die zündende Idee zu diesem Blick aus dem Dachfenster hatte mein Mann und wahrscheinlich machte er einen Scherz, aber mich hatte es schon gepackt. Unten sieht man noch zwei andere Perspektiven aus dem Dachfenster, aber letztendlich wurde es dieses. Es zeigt den Blick auf unseren Garten in Richtung Süden und wie man sieht ist er sehr schmal, aber auch sehr lang auf den Hügel rauf. Momentan bei Schneelage ist es ideal zum Bobfahren. Wir haben ein Jahrhundertwendehaus aus 1880, also Altbau. Wenn ich aus dem Dachfenster schaue (in dem Fall das linke) bin ich etwa 9 Meter oder mehr über dem Boden oder im 3. Stockwerk eines modernen Hauses. 

I'm back again for the photo challenge 2026. Back in my yard. The brilliant idea for this view from the skylight came from my husband, and he was probably joking, but I was already hooked. Below you can see two other perspectives from the skylight, but this is the one I ultimately chose. It shows the view of our garden facing south, and as you can see, it's very narrow but also very long, stretching up the hill. With the snow right now, it's perfect for sledding. We have a turn-of-the-century house from 1880, so it's an old building. When I look out of the skylight (in this case, the one on the left), I'm about 9 or more meters above the ground, or on the third floor of a modern house.

12tel Blick 2025 - Dezember

Ich hab's geschafft! Der Bilderreigen schließt sich. Das letzte Bild im Jahr zeigt tatsächlich Schnee. Die größte Weihnachtsüberraschung für uns alle in der Ostregion Österreichs war wohl, als es in den frühen Morgenstunden des 24. Dezembers zu schneien begann. So schön!
Bei einem Spaziergang im Schnee bat ich meine zwei Lieben, mir für mein Bild zu posieren. Und gerade bei meiner Knipserei bog der "Essen auf Rädern" Lieferwagen des Hilfswerks vom Parkplatz des Hauses hinter mir auf die Straße. Passt perfekt. 
Thema dieses Jahres war der Schulpark meines Wohnortes. Er heißt so, weil direkt hinter den Bäumen rechts die Grundschule steht. Bei schönem, warmen und trockenem Wetter dürfen die Kinder in der großen Pause in den Park gehen. Wenn man sich die Collage anschaut, dann denke ich, ist es mir gelungen, ein paar schöne Blicke einzufangen. Ich bin zufrieden und es hat wieder großen Spaß gemacht.

I did it! The photo series is complete. The last picture of the year actually shows snow. The biggest Christmas surprise for all of us in eastern Austria was probably when it started snowing in the early morning hours of December 24th. So beautiful!
During a walk in the snow, I asked my two loved ones to pose for my picture. And just as I was taking pictures, the "Meals on Wheels" delivery van from the charity turned out of the parking lot behind me onto the street. Perfect timing. 
This year's motive was the school park in my town. It's called that because the elementary school is located directly behind the trees on the right. When the weather is nice, warm, and dry, the children are allowed to go to the park during their long break. Looking at the collage, I think I managed to capture some lovely moments. I'm pleased with it, and it was great fun. 

12tel Blick 2025 - November

So lange habe ich auf Schnee gewartet, aber bei uns hier wollte es nicht schneien. Also bin ich gestern ganz früh hin zum Park, um wenigsten noch ein bisschen Raureif aufs Foto zu bekommen. Und die Gemeindearbeiter haben auch schon Schneestangen gesetzt, wobei mir eine genau ins Bild rein ragt. Frostig war's die letzten Tage. Sich an die Kälte zu gewöhnen, dauert bei mir auch immer länger.

I've been waiting so long for snow, but it just wouldn't snow here. So yesterday, I went to the park very early to at least get a bit of hoarfrost in the photo. And the community workers have put up snow poles, one of which is sticking right into my picture. It's been frosty the last few days. It always takes me longer to get used to the cold. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Oktober

Oktober ist einer der schönsten Monate des Jahres. Der Herbst präsentiert sich in seiner prachtvollsten Zeit. Einfach nur schön und zum Staunen. Und ich hatte wieder unglaublich Glück beim Fotografieren meines 12tel Blicks. Ich habe endlich einen Traktor erwischt. Ich wohne in einem eher mittelgroßen ländlichen Ort und man sollte meinen da wuselt es vor Traktoren. Aber nein. Nun ja vielleicht schon, aber immer wenn ich an der Ecke stehe und Fotos machen will, kam keiner vorbei. Bis jetzt. Und wie ihr an den Bildrändern sehen könnt, kam da noch viel mehr. 

October is one of the most beautiful months of the year. Autumn is at its most magnificent. Simply beautiful and awe-inspiring. And I was incredibly lucky when photographing my view. I finally caught a tractor. I live in a relatively medium-sized rural village, and you'd think it'd be bustling with tractors. But no. Well, maybe, but every time I stand on that corner and want to take pictures, no one comes by. Until now. And as you can see from the edges of the picture, there have been many more. 

12tel Blick 2025 - September

Der Herbst hat begonnen. Ich liebe den Herbst. Die Temperatur schwankt nicht mehr so, das Wetter ist beständiger. Alles gut für meinen wetterfühligen Kopf. Auf meinem 12tel Bild sieht man den Herbst auch schon. Die Bäume sind kahler, Wohnhäuser und Parkplätze kommen wieder zum Vorschein. Später Nachmittag. Diesmal ist mir ein sportlicher Radfahrer ins Bild geschossen.

Autumn has begun. I love autumn. The temperature doesn't fluctuate as much anymore, the weather is more consistent. All good for my weather-sensitive mind. In my monthly picture, you can already see the beginnings of autumn. The trees are bare, houses and parking lots are coming into view again. Late afternoon. This time I caught a sporty cyclist in the picture. 

12tel Blick 2025 - August

Ab Mitte August habe ich immer schon herbstliche Gefühle. Es liegt an der Luft am frühen Morgen. Da riecht es plötzlich nach Herbst, auch wenn es dann tagsüber wieder heiß ist. Obwohl ich den Herbst liebe, mehr als den Sommer, werde ich doch etwas traurig, weil es bedeutet, dass das Jahr dem Ende zustrebt. Auch auf meinem 12tel Blick kann man den Herbst schon erkennen. Die Kastanien reifen und der Baum färbt sich ein. Das kann aber auch an der Kastanienwelke liegen. Im Park geht gerade eine Frau mit ihrem Hund spazieren. Der Himmel zeigt sich von seiner bezaubernden Seite. 

From mid-August onwards, I always start to feel autumnal. It's in the air early in the morning. It suddenly smells like autumn, even if it's hot again during the day. Although I love autumn, more than summer, I still feel a little sad because it means the year is coming to an end. Even at my August picture, I can already see the scent of autumn. The chestnuts are ripening and the tree is changing colour. But that could also be due to the chestnut wilt. In the park, a woman is walking her dog. The sky is showing its enchanting side. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Juli

Juli - Sommerzeit, Ferienzeit, Festivalzeit. Im Juli gab es im Schulpark ein Musikfestival, das großen Zuspruch fand. Eine Zeit lang sah es so aus, als ob alles ins Wasser fallen würde, aber als die erste Gruppe zu spielen begann, hörte der Regen auf bis zum Ende der Veranstaltung. Das Foto habe ich bei Einbruch der Dämmerung gemacht, man kann schon ein paar Lichterketten erkennen. Das Fest war ein voller Erfolg und gut besucht. 

July – summertime, vacation time, festival time. In July, there was a music festival in the school park that was very popular. For a while, it looked like the whole thing would be canceled due to heavy rain, but when the first band started playing, the rain stopped until the end of the event. I took this photo at dusk; you can already see some fairy lights. The festival was a complete success and well attended. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Juni

Ein halbes Jahr ist schon wieder rum. Beim Erstellen der Collage habe ich bemerkt, dass es mir anscheinend die Zweiradfahrer angetan haben, da ich schon wieder ein Bild damit ausgesucht habe. Das Foto habe ich erst vor drei Tagen gemacht, d.h. es ist die letzte Schulwoche, die Noten stehen schon fest, gelehrt wird nicht mehr. Es ist vormittags um halb Zehn und im Schulpark kann man daher die Schulkinder beim Spielen sehen.

Half a year has already passed. While creating the collage, I noticed that I seem to have a thing for cyclists, as I've chosen another picture with them. I took the photo just three days ago, meaning it's the last week of school, grades are already in, and classes are over. It's 9:30 in the morning, so you can see the schoolchildren playing in the school park. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Mai

Es hat viel geregnet im Mai und es war ungewöhnlich kalt. Jetzt ist Ende Mai und die Heizung läuft immer noch hin und wieder. Der Natur gefällt es, meinen Feldgurken im Beet nicht so. Die wollen es schön warm haben. Gewachsen sind die Pflanzen bis jetzt nicht und die Blätter sehen durch die starken Regenfälle zerfleddert aus. Ich warte mal noch eine Woche, aber wenn sie nicht durchtreiben, muss ich wohl neue Pflanzen kaufen. 
Meinen Maiblick habe ich an einem schönen Tag gemacht und einen Motorradfahrer und einen Fußgänger erwischt. Der Kastanienbaum rechts vorne blüht und alles ist frischgrün. 

It rained a lot in May and it was unusually cold. It's the end of May now, and the heating is still running on and off. Nature likes it, but my cucumbers in the gardenbed don't. They like it nice and warm. The plants haven't grown yet, and the leaves look tattered from the heavy rain. I'll wait another week, but if they don't sprout, I'll probably have to buy new plants.

I took my May picture on a beautiful day and caught a motorcyclist and a pedestrian. The chestnut tree in the front right is in bloom, and everything is a fresh green. 

12tel Blick 2025 - April

Letztes Mal fragte ich, ob man die Häuser im April noch sehen könnte. Nein, denn der Frühling hat voll zugeschlagen. Jedes Jahr im April findet eine Transformation von kahl zu grün statt in nur wenigen Tagen. Siehe Bilder weiter unten. Das Gegenlichtfoto entstand am späten Nachmittag beim Spazieren gehen. Ich wollte eigentlich nur ein Sicherheitsfoto machen, damit ich was habe, falls ich es am nächsten Tag vormittag nicht zum Fotostandort schaffe. Aber dann hat es mir so gut gefallen, dass ich mich dafür entschieden habe.

Last time I asked if the houses could still be seen in April. No, because spring has sprung. Every April, a transformation from bare to green takes place in just a few days. See photos below. This backlit shot was taken while I was out walking in the late afternoon. I actually just wanted to take a safety photo so I have something in case I couldn't make it to the photo location the next morning. But then I liked it so much that I decided to go for it. 

12tel Blick 2025 - März

Der März präsentierte sich wechselhaft mit einem Hauch Grün. Diesmal habe ich zufällig den Regionalbus erwischt, der gerade vorbei fuhr. Noch kann man die Wohnhäuser hinter den Bäumen erkennen. Mal schauen, ob man die im April noch sieht. 

March presents itself with changeable weather, with a hint of green. This time, I happened to catch the regional bus that was passing by. You can still see the houses behind the trees. Let's see if you can still see them in April. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Februar

Wir nennen das Hochnebel. In der Früh lag der Nebel noch dicht am Boden. Nebel mag ich ja, aber so dicht am Boden wäre mein Bild nur grau gewesen mit nichts drauf zu sehen. Ich habe noch etwas gewartet bis er gegen Mittag höher stieg. Aber jetzt schaut es aus, als wäre es nur ein trüber Tag. Naja, ich bin ja kein professioneller Fotograf, der sich stundenlang auf die Lauer legt, um den richtigen Schuss abzugeben. So ist es halt jetzt. 

We call it high fog. In the morning the fog was still close to the ground. I like fog, but if it was that close to the ground my picture would have been just grey with nothing visible. I waited a little longer until it rose higher around midday. But now it looks like it was just a cloudy day. Well, I'm not a professional photographer who lies in wait for hours to get the right shot. That's just how it is now. 

12tel Blick 2025 - Jänner

Eine neue Runde des 12tel-Blicks beginnt. Bis vor ein paar Tagen wollte ich nicht mitmachen, weil ich kein geeignetes Motiv fand. Und dann war in Niederösterreich Wahlsonntag für die Gemeinderatswahlen und wir mussten in die örtliche Volks-/Musikschule zum Wahllokal. Und was soll ich sagen, als wir am Schulpark vorbei kamen, hatte ich mein Motiv gefunden. Es ist ein unaufgeregtes Foto, ein Last-Minute-Foto. Das Jännerbild präsentiert sich leer. Kein Schnee, keine Menschen, keine Autos. Ich hatte viele andere mit allem drauf, aber ich habe mich für dieses entschieden, weil es jetzt total ausbaufähig ist. Die Sicht ist Richtung Westen und nur am späten Nachmittag habe ich Gegenlicht. Die zwei sichtbaren Häuser sind Wohnhäuser, die Schule ist rechts hinter dem Baum und sieht man nicht. 

A new round of the photo challenge begins. Until a few days ago I didn't want to take part because I couldn't find a suitable photo motif. And then it was election Sunday in Lower Austria for the local council elections and we had to go to the polling station at the local elementary/music school. And what can I say, when we passed the school park I had found my subject. It is a calm photo, a last-minute photo. The January photo is empty. No snow, no people, no cars. I had lots of other pictures with everything on them, but I chose this one because it can be expanded upon. The view is towards the west and only in the late afternoon do I have backlight. The two visible houses are residential buildings, the school is on the right behind the tree and cannot be seen. 

12tel Blick 2024 - Dezember

Ausgeblickt ist! Das Jahr ist fertig. Der Kreis hat sich geschlossen. Gerne hätte ich noch ein Foto mit Schnee gehabt, aber die paar Stunden, wo bei uns Schnee lag, habe ich leider versäumt Fotos zu machen. Mein Thema war den Fluss Piesting auf einer Fußgängerbrücke stehend in beide Richtungen zu fotografieren. Und in der Collage sieht man, dass sich viel getan hat.

The photo challenge is accomplished! The year is over. The circle has come full circle. I would have loved to have had another photo with snow, but unfortunately I missed taking photos during the few hours when there was snow here. My theme was to photograph the Piesting river in both directions while standing on a pedestrian bridge. And in the collage you can see there was a lot going on this year. 

12tel Blick 2024 - November

November ist vorbei und ich habe ein seltenes Nebelfoto gemacht. Ja, richtig gehört. Dort wo ich lebe, ist Nebel eher selten. Trotzdem ein Fluss den Ort durchzieht, bildet sich selten Nebel. Entweder ist das Wasser zu kalt oder zu warm, oder immer an die Lufttemperatur angepasst. Also eigentlich weiß ich nicht, wie Nebel entsteht. Nur, dass hier das selten ist. Und dabei sieht es mystisch aus.

November is over and I took a rare photo of fog. Yes, you heard right. Where I live, fog is rare. Even though a river runs through the town, fog rarely forms. Either the water is too cold or too warm, or it is always adjusted to the air temperature. So I don't really know how fog forms. Only that it is rare here. And it looks mystical. 

12tel Blick 2024 - Oktober

Oktober ist fast vorbei und die Blätter sind mitten im Umfärben. Dieser Monat gehört zu meinen Top Favoriten. Die Luft ist lau, tagsüber warm und die Natur am buntesten.

October is almost over and the leaves are in the middle of changing colors. This month is one of my top favorites. The air is mild, warm during the day and nature is at its most colorful. 

12tel Blick 2024 - September

So und jetzt ist er ganz weg - der Baumstamm. Mitte des Monats gab es Hochwasser, das in vielen Teilen Österreichs zu schweren Überschwemmungen und Todesfällen geführt hat. Auch unser Fluss führte Hochwasser, aber durch exzellente Abwehrmaßnahmen in früheren Jahren, hat auch dieses Jahrhunderthochwasser, wie auch die anderen Jahrhunderthochwässer in den letzten zwanzig Jahren, keinen Schaden in meinem Wohnort verursacht. Viele haben sich schon über diesen Begriff "Jahrhunderthochwasser" mokiert. Da wir ja gerade am Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts stehen, wird er schon ziemlich abgenutzt. Und ich kann mir vorstellen, im Sinn den Klimawandel, dass wir uns über die Naturkatastrophen, die noch kommen werden, neue Begriffe einfallen lassen müssen. 

Meine Brücke auf der ich immer stehe, wurde gesperrt solange der Fluss Hochwasser führte, daher ist dieses Foto ein Paar Tage danach. Aber auf dem Foto unterhalb seht ihr die gesperrte Brücke auf der ich immer stehe, von der anderen Brücke aus gesehen, von meinem 2. Blick. Weiter unten im Post könnt ihr euch auch noch ein kurzes Video ansehen.

And now it's completely gone - the tree trunk. In the middle of the month there was a flood that caused severe flooding and deaths in many parts of Austria. Our river also flooded, but thanks to excellent defensive measures in previous years, this flood of the century, like the other floods of the century in the last twenty years, did not cause any damage in my area. Many people have already mocked the term "flood of the century". Since we are just at the beginning of this century, it is already pretty worn out. And I can imagine, in the sense of climate change, that we will have to come up with new terms for the natural disasters that are yet to come. 

12tel Blick 2024 - August

Zum ersten Mal hat sich mit dem Baumstamm im Fluss etwas getan. Während wir ein paar Tage Urlaub in Kroatien gemacht haben, hat es hier schwere Unwetter gegeben und anscheinend war die Strömumg so stark, dass sie den Stamm gedreht hat. In meiner Gegend ist zum Glück nichts weiter passiert. Trotz angeblichen Hagel konnte ich in meinem Garten keine Schäden feststellen. Im Gegenteil, war der Rasen bei unserer Abfahrt dürr und braun, war er nach unserer Rückkehr wieder grün und saftig. Die Regenfälle waren anscheinend ziemlich heftig und anhaltend.

For the first time, something happened to the tree trunk in the river. While we were on holiday in Croatia for a few days, there were severe storms here and apparently the current was so strong that it turned the trunk. Fortunately, nothing else happened in my area. Despite alleged hail, I could not see any damage in my garden. On the contrary, the lawn was dry and brown when we left, but it was green and lush again when we returned. The rain was apparently quite heavy and persistent.
