Mausefalle – Mousetrap – DIY

Das letzte Wochenende war sehr aufregend, für uns und besonders für unsere Katze 'Hello Kitty'. Denn sie hat eine lebende Maus ins Esszimmer gebracht und fallen gelassen. Die Maus hat sich unterm Schrank verkrochen, wo sie auch in Sicherheit war. Denn dieser Schrank ist sowohl für die Katze als auch für unsere Arme zu niedrig. Wir wohnen auf dem Land und ab und an verirrt sich eine Maus ins Haus, bestimmt nicht freiwillig. Im Sommer lassen wir alle Türen und Fenster zur Gartenseite offen und dann sind sie auch wieder weg. Also war eine Maus im Haus jetzt nicht so eine Katastrophe für uns. Es war nur Winter und Fenster aufmachen ging ja nicht so. Also hat mein Mann über die Nacht Mausefallen (simple Holz-Schlagfallen) aufgestellt. Mit dem Ergebnis, dass am nächsten morgen zwei Fallen leer gefressen waren und die 3. unberührt blieb. Da war die Maus anscheinend schon satt 😂 

The last weekend was very exciting, for us and especially for our cat 'Hello Kitty'. Because she brought a living mouse into the dining room and dropped it. The mouse has crawled under the closet, where it was safe because this closet is too low for both the cat and our arms. We live in the country and every now and then a mouse gets lost in the house, certainly not voluntarily. In summer we leave all doors and windows open which are facing the garden and then they are gone by morning. So having a mouse in the house wasn't such a disaster. It was just winter and opening the windows wasn’t an option. So my husband set up the mousetraps (simple snap traps) over night. With the result next morning two traps were empty and the third one remained untouched. Apparently the mouse was already fed up 😂

Recyclingidee für alte Pyjamas

Mein Mann konnte sich mal wieder von uralten Pyjamas trennen. Die waren von hervorragender Qualität und sind waschbar bei 60 Grad. Zu schade sowas wegzuwerfen. Ich nähe sie zusammen und mache daraus eine kuschelige Hundedecke. Ist in 10 Minuten fertig. Der Gummibund wird abgeschnitten und die Hosenbeine mit einem langen Zickzackstich zusammengenäht. Am Oberteil werden die Ärmel an das Oberteil genäht und auch der Halsausschnitt wird zugesteppt, damit nichts reinrutschen kann. Dann werden Oberteil und Hosenteil am Bund zusammen genäht. Das muss wirklich keine schöne Naht werden. Und schon ist das Kuscheltuch für den Hund fertig. Unser Hund hat drei Schlafplätze und schon alle sind mit Knuddeldecken mit Herrchengeruch ausgestattet. Also nach dem letzten Mal tragen, gar nicht waschen, sondern gleich ab aufs Plätzchen. Unser Hund liebt es seine Nase da rein zu graben 🐶

Recycling idea for old pajamas

My husband was able to dump his old pajamas. They were of excellent quality and washable at 60 degrees. Too bad to throw them away. So I stitched them together and made a cozy dog blanket out of them. Done in 10 minutes. Cut off the elastic waistband and sew the pant legs together with a long zigzag stitch. The sleeves are sewn to the top and close the neckline with a stitch so that nothing can slip inside. Then the top and trousers are sewn together at the waistband. It really doesn't have to be a nice seam. And the cuddly blanket for the dog is ready. Our dog has three sleeping places and they are all equipped with cuddly blankets with a dogdaddy odor. So don't wash it after wearing for the last time, just go straight to the dogcave. Our dog loves to dig his nose in there.

Wir haben Hund und Katze und jedesmal vor dem Tierarztbesuch werden die Impfpässe gesucht. Seit Jahren will ich ein Täschchen dafür nähen. Ist ja wohl klar, dass ich das gerade jetzt machen will, wo es wegen Coronavirus Ausgangsbeschränkungen gibt und ich nicht Stoff einkaufen kann. Mal davon abgesehen, dass die Geschäfte geschlossen sind. Ich krieg das seit Tagen nicht aus dem Kopf, also ist kreatives Denken gefragt. Ich kramte die Altkleidersäcke meiner Tochter durch, da mussten doch bestimmt Kätzchen und Hündchen T-Shirts dabei sein. Und so war's auch.

Leckerlitaschen - Doggie Bags

Mein Bruder und meine Schwägerin haben tierischen Familienzuwachs bekommen und mich gebeten Leckerlitascherl für ihre Hündin zu machen. Ich hatte sogar noch Stoff mit Hundemuster herumliegen. Verwendet habe ich nur Teile, die ich schon hatte. Wenn ich kaputte Kleidung meiner Tochter aussortiere, dann schneide ich immer alle verwertbaren Teile ab wie Schließen, Schnapper, Reißverschlüsse, Karabiner, Labels, Kordeln und was da sonst noch alles dran ist. Daher habe ich schon eine reichhaltige Sammlung an solchen Stücken. Auch wenn die Farben mal nicht richtig passen, funktionieren muss das Ding. Das Hündchen auf dem Bild ist allerdings unseres, Benno, 11 Jahre, benannt nach dem Bullen von Tölz, döst in seiner Terrassenkiste.

My brother and sister-in-law got a new animal family member and asked me to make small bags for dog cookies. I even had fabric with dog patterns lying around. I only used parts that I already had. When I sort out broken clothes of my daughter, I always cut off any usable parts, such as fasteners, snappers, zippers, carabiners, labels, cords, and whatever else is left. Therefore, I already have a rich collection of such pieces. Even if the colors do not fit properly, the thing works fine. The dog in the picture, however, is ours, Benno, 11 years old, chilling in his patio box.

Ferienfreuden - Holiday Joy

Die Ferien gehen ja schon zwei Wochen und meine Tochter (12) und ich lassen es langsam angehen, also wirklich langsam, so in Zeitlupe etwa. Daher passiert auch ziemlich wenig zur Zeit und genauso passt es uns auch. Wir lesen viel, wir beide, gemütlich am Terrassenbett. Lili hat schon vier Bücher gelesen und ich hab auch schon zwei Mittelalterkrimis geschafft.

Momentan freue ich mich, dass der Schwalbenschwanz wieder unseren Sommerflieder besucht, sowie viele viele andere Falter auch.

as well as so many other butterflies.

The holidays are already two weeks old and my daughter and I take it slow, so really slow, slow motion. That's why there's not much happening right now, and that's just how we like it. We read a lot, both of us, cozy on the terrace bed. Lili already read four books and I have already managed two medieval mystery novels.

Blüten im Jänner - Blossoms in January

17°C im Jänner! Verrückt! Als sich unser Hund draußen in die Sonne legte, wusste ich dass es warm genug war und auch wo. Er findet treffsicher immer die Hotspots, egal ob drinnen oder draußen. Das traumhafte Wetter haben wir natürlich sofort ausgenutzt. Ich zum Stricken in der Sonne, er zum Sonnenbaden.

Hier zeige ich euch wie ich zwei alte verzogene und löchrige Spannbettbezüge zu einer Matte für unseren Hund Benno verarbeitet habe. Löcher machen gar nichts, die kommen einfach innen zu liegen. Auf dem Bild sieht man auch, warum ich unseren Hund im Winter immer "Ofenhund" nenne. Sein Platz in der Küche ist vor dem Heizkörper. Manchmal quetscht er sich auch darunter rein und lässt sich rösten. Tja, jedem das seine.

Mein Mann hat mir einen gut ausgetragenen 20 Jahre alten Frotteepyjama zur weiteren Verwendung überlassen. Da die Qualität des Materials immer noch 1A ist und vor allem bei 60°C waschbar, war klar, dass ich das für ein Schmusedeckchen für unseren Wuffi verwenden würde. Unser Wuffi heißt Benno (9 Jahre), Namensinspiration war unsere damalige Lieblingssendung "Der Bulle von Tölz". Also unser Benno hat 3 Liegeplätze, seine von meinem Mann gebaute Hundehütte in der Einfahrt und seine Plätzchen auf der Terrasse und im Winter in der Küche vor der Heizung. Ich brauche daher eine Menge Nestbaumaterial. Da wir auch eine Freilaufkatze haben, die manchmal Ungeziefer nach Hause bringt (weil ich den Spot-on Termin versäumt habe), ist es mir wichtig, dass ich alle Matten und Decken möglichst heiß waschen kann und die Sachen auch in die Waschmaschine passen. 

My husband gave me a well-worn 20 years old terryclothpyjama for further use. Since the quality of the material is still excellent and very hot washable, it was clear that I would use it for a blankie for our doggie. Our doggie is called Benno (9 years) and he has 3 sleeping berths, his doghut built by my husband in the driveway and his nest on the terrace and in winter in the kitchen in front of the heating. So I need alot of stuff for nest-building. Since we also have an outdoor cat or garden cat, which sometimes brings home vermin (because I missed the spot-on date), it is important to me that I can wash all the mats and blankets as hot as possible and the stuff must fit into the washing machine.

Waren die letzten Tage nicht traumhaft schön? Wir haben einen sehr großen Garten und schon mal ein bisschen begonnen, dort und da zu zupfen und zu schneiden. Die Magnolie ist leider am Verblühen, ihre Schönheit verzaubert mich jedes Jahr. 

These last few days were fantastically sunny. We have a very large garden and started to pluck here and cut there a little bit. The magnolia is fading, her beauty enchants me every year.

My Creative Space - Was mache ich gerade

Bei mir war das Christkind schon früher da und brachte mir eine neue Nähmaschine mit und zwar eine Pfaff Ambition Essential. Meine erste Pfaff. Um sie besser kennen zu lernen, nähe ich gerade wattierte Täschchen. Bis jetzt bin ich ganz hin und weg. Nach 25 Jahren auf einer Elna ist das jetzt meine zweite Haushaltsnähmaschine und es näht sich wirklich klasse. 

Christkindl was already here with me and brought me a new sewing machine, a Pfaff Ambition Essential. My first Pfaff. In order to get to know the machine, I sew padded bags. Until now, I'm entranced. After 25 years on an Elna this is my second home sewing machine and working with it is really great.

Und die Verpackung der Nähmaschine hatte auch noch einen Zweck, nachdem ich mir von der Schachtel das Infolabel raus geschnitten hatte. Unsere Katze "Hello Kitty" schaute gleich mal nach, ob man da gut drin schlafen konnte. Ja, man konnte. 

And the packaging of the sewing machine also had a purpose after I had cut the information label from the box. Our cat "Hello Kitty" immediately made it her home.

IKEA Hack Sniglar Wickeltisch

Ihr kennt vielleicht die Seite IKEA Hackers? Wir haben kürzlich auch ein Ikea Möbel quasi gehackt, nämlich was ganz anderes draus gemacht. Ich wollte schon lange eine Hundehütte für unseren Mischlingshund Benno (Größe etwa kniehoch), aber alle die es zu kaufen gab, waren entweder urteuer, mit Holzschutz behandelt oder so wie ich sie nicht mochte. Eine Hundehütte zu bauen, ist für meinen Mann kein Problem (außer Zeitproblem!), aber es sollte ratzfatz gehen, an einem Nachmittag fertig sein. Also hielt ich Ausschau nach einem kleinen Tisch, wo man nur Bretter anschrauben musste. Fündig wurde ich bei Ikea. Der Sniglar Wickeltisch ist unbehandelt und von der Größe her ideal. Von einem anderen Projekt hatten wir noch unbehandelte Holzpaneele, die mein Mann zuschnitt und an drei Seiten anschraubte. Oben haben wir jetzt eine praktische Ablage und der Katzenkorb hat auch noch Platz. Unser Hund Benno ist überglücklich und saß schon in der Hütte, während mein Mann noch die Bretter anschraubte. 

You might know the site IKEA Hackers? We have recently hacked an Ikea furniture, we made ​​something else out of it. Snowdrops in the Sun - Schneeglöckchen in der Sonne

Gestern haben wir uns erinnert, dass der gelbe Ball am Himmel 'Sonne' heißt. Nach vielen trüben Tagen zeigte sie sich endlich. Immer wieder konnte ich beobachten, wie Leute beim Warten vor der Schule, auf dem Supermarkt Parkplatz, ihre Gesichter gen Sonne streckten und die Augen schlossen und ein paar Sekunden die Wärme genossen und sich freuten. So wie ich :) 

Today we remembered that the yellow ball in the sky is called 'sun'. After many cloudy days she showed up at last. Again and again I was able to see people waiting in front of the school, in the supermarket parking lot, stretching their faces towards the sun and closed their eyes for a few seconds and enjoyed the warmth and rejoiced. Like me :)

World Animal Day - Welttierschutztag

Unsere beiden Racker haben es gut! Aber es gibt so viele Tiere, die unsagbar leiden. An erster Linie denkt man an den Schutz bedrohter Arten. Aber dieses Jahr will ich vor allem an unsere Nutztiere denken. Auch wenn ihr Leben nur kurz ist und nur dem Zwecke unserer Ernährung dient, haben sie die grausame Haltung nicht verdient, die leider immer noch üblich und standard ist. Ich habe dieses Jahr unseren Haushalt und unsere Ernährung umgestellt und kaufe und lebe bio und grün. Für mich, uns, die Tiere, die Umwelt.

Our two rascals are doing well! But there are so many animals which suffer unspeakably. In the first place one thinks of protecting endangered species. But this year I think of our livestock. Even though their life is short and only serves the purposes of our diet, they do not deserve the cruel keeping that is unfortunately still common and standard. This year I have rearranged our budget and our food and I buy and live organic and green. For me, us, the animals, the environment.

Ja, es geht! Hund und Katze leben gut miteinander. Unser Hund Benno war 3 Jahre alt, als Kätzchen Kitty als Baby ins Haus kam. Von seiner Seite war es Liebe auf den ersten Blick! Sie ... mag ihn auch ;)
