Monatscollage Juni 2024

Monatsrückblick für Juni: 

1. Mein neues Blumenbeet hat sich prächtig entwickelt und auch die zwischengepflanzten Blumen, Ringelblumen und Borretsch, blühen schon. 
2. Ich habe zum ersten Mal Feldgurken im Gemüsebeet und ich finde es ganz zauberhaft wie sich die Schlingärmchen um das Rankgerüst wickeln. 
3. Im Juni haben wir auch Erdbeeren und Marillen (Aprikosen) direkt bei den burgenländischen Obstbauern geholt und entweder sofort gegessen, zu Marmelade verkocht oder als Vorrat eingefroren. 
4. Wir haben viele professionelle Nistkästen an der Vorderseite der Werkstatt hängen, die auch benutzt werden. Aber dieses Jahr haben die Kohlmeisen auch den Dekonistkasten auf der Terrasse benutzt. Der ist mit Serviettentechnik verziert (ein Projekt mit meiner Tochter) und aus Sperrholz und nicht zum Öffnen. Nun sind sie ausgezogen und mein Mann muss auf der Rückseite ein Loch reinschneiden, damit wir ihn reinigen können. Die Vögel haben sich nicht daran gestört, dass wir ständig vorbeigelaufen sind. 
5. Als heiße Temperaturen vorhergesagt wurden, haben wir schnell den Pool aufgestellt und natürlich auch gegrillt. Herrlich! So heiße Temperaturen kann man nur in Nähe des Wassers aushalten. 
6. Außerdem feierten wir den 85. Geburtstag meiner Schwiegermutter mit einer ganz großen Party. 
7. In Kärnten haben wir auch den Kleinen Onkel entdeckt, Pipi Langstrumpfs Pferd. Süß! 
8. Und auf der Terrasse bekam ich einen neuen Topf für meinen Brunnen. Terrakotta Topf blau glasiert. Ich liebe das sanfte Plätschern des Wassers und in Kombination mit dem Rascheln des Schilfes ist das total entspannend.

A retrospect of June: 

1. My new flowerbed has developed beautifully and the flowers planted in between, marigolds and borage, are already blooming.
2. I have cucumbers in the vegetable patch for the first time and I think it's magical how the little creeping arms wrap themselves around the trellis.
3. Furthermore in June we got strawberries and apricots directly from the Burgenland fruit farmers and either ate them straight away, cooked them into jam or froze them for storage.
4. We have lots of professional nesting boxes hanging on the front of the workshop, which are also used. But this year the Great Tits also used the decoupage box on the patio. It is decorated with decoupage (a project with my daughter) and is made of plywood and cannot be opened. Now they have moved out and my husband has to cut a hole in the back so that we can clean it. The birds didn't mind that we kept walking past or being around. 
5. When hot temperatures were forecast, we quickly set up the pool and of course had a barbecue. Wonderful! You can only endure such hot temperatures near water.
6. Then we celebrated my mother-in-law's 85th birthday with a huge enjoyable party.
7. In addition in Carinthia we also discovered Little Uncle, Pippi Longstocking's horse. Cute!
8. Above all I got a new pot for my fountain on the patio. Terracotta pot glazed blue. I love the gentle rippling of the water and in combination with the rustling of the reeds it is totally relaxing.

12tel Blick 2024 - Juni

Das halbe Jahr ist voll und es hat sich an meinem Fluss viel getan. Von kalt und kahl zu grün und lebendig. Diesmal habe ich mich bei beiden Fotos für eine Abendstimmung entschieden. Im Juni ist es sehr lange hell am Abend und mein Mann und ich machen immer am späteren Abend einen Spaziergang. Normalerweise ist es dann schon dunkel, aber eben nicht im Juni. Die Luft war lau und der Himmel leicht lila. Ich habe einfach fotografiert und hoffte, dass die Kamera das halbwegs einfangen kann. 

Half the year is over and a lot has happened on my river. From cold and bare to green and lively. This time I decided to capture the evening mood in both pictures. In June it is bright for a long time in the evening and my husband and I always go for a walk later in the evening. Normally it is already dark by then, but not in June. The air was warm and the sky was slightly purple. I took some photos and hoped that the camera could capture it somewhat. 

In meinem Steinbeet, das Beet, das ich nicht oder nur spärlich gieße, geht es über vor Blumen und Blüten. Ich habe sowohl Stauden im Beet als auch eine einjährige Blumenmischung eingetreut. Der gelbe Kalifornische Goldmohn rechts hat das Beet verlassen und möchte auf Wanderschaft gehen. Das kann er. Ich hoffe ich denke beim Rasenmähen daran. 

My flowerbed, the bed that I don't water or only water sparingly, is overflowing with flowers and blossoms. I have planted perennials in this space as well as an annual flower mix I sprinkled in early spring. The yellow California Poppy on the right has left the bed and wants to go on a journey. It can do that. I hope I remember that when I mow the lawn.

Monatscollage Mai 2024

Monatsrückblick für Mai: 

1. Es war Muttertag und wir haben einen wunderschönen Tag miteinander verbracht und ich habe diese hinreißend schöne Bistrogarnitur für den Garten bekommen. Herrlich, wenn man für den Nachmittagskaffee der Sonne nachwandern kann. 
2. Wir haben einen etwas geschwächten Schwalbenschwanz im Gras gefunden und dann in die Holunderblüten gesetzt, damit er sich stärken kann. 
3. Für das Büro meines Mannes habe ich dieses kleine Sukkulententöpfchen gemacht. Ist total süß geworden. Ich liebe Sukkulenten! 
4. Und dann war da noch dieser eine Abend mit einem unglaublichen Abendrot. So schön!
5. Die Rosen blühten dieses Jahr schon im Mai. Auch einen Monat früher als sonst.
6. Und ich habe ein neues Blumenbeet bekommen. Bin super glücklich damit. Mehr dazu, wenn du HIER klickst. 
7. Und das Highlight diese Monats war der Schulabschluss meiner Tochter. Wir sind alle überglücklich und stolz und erleichtert. Nach dem Stress der letzten Monate und Wochen leben wir hier natürlich in der totalen Chillout Zone.

A retrospect of May: 

1. It was Mother's Day and we spent a wonderful day together and I got this gorgeous bistro set for the garden. It's wonderful when you can follow the sun for your afternoon coffee.
2. We found a slightly weakened swallowtail butterfly in the grass and then planted it in the elderflowers so it could strengthen itself.
3. I made this little succulent pot for my husband's office. It turned out really cute. I love succulents!
4. And then there was that one evening with an incredible sunset. So beautiful!
5. The roses bloomed in May this year. A month earlier than usual.
6. And I got a new flower bed. I'm super happy with it. You can find out more by clicking HERE.
7. And the highlight of this month was my daughter's graduation. We are all overjoyed and proud and relieved. After the stress of the last few months and weeks, we are of course living in a total chill-out zone here.

12tel Blick 2024 - Mai

Nach Starkregen war das Wasser des Flusses etwas braun und minimal höher. Die Bäume und Büsche sind jetzt voll belaubt und werden sich nurmehr im Farbton ändern. Die Fotos stammen von zwei verschiedenen Tagen. Das untere habe ich kurz nach dem Regen gemacht, das Wasser ist noch sehr braun. Das obere ein paar Tage später, da ist das trübe Wasser schon weitergeflossen.

After heavy rain, the water in the river was a little brown and slightly higher. The trees and bushes are now fully leafed out and will only change color. The pictures are from two different days. I took the picture below shortly after the rain, the water is still very brown. The picture above a few days later, by then the murky water had already flowed away. 

Monatscollage April 2024

Monatsrückblick für April: 

1. Ich habe von einer Methode gelesen, dass man Orchideen in Wasser halten kann und das werde ich jetzt testen, nachdem ich wieder eine Phalaenopsis in Substrat verloren habe. Bis jetzt habe ich tolle Ergebnisse erzielt. Neue Austriebe nach nur zwei Wochen. Darüber werde ich mal einen eigenen Post machen.
2. Mir fiel auf, dass die Blätter unserer Ulme anders aussahen als die letzten 20 Jahre und siehe da, es waren Blüten. Nach etwa 20-30 Jahren blühen Ulmen zum ersten Mal und so sieht das aus. Cool, oder?
3. Salat, Rote Beete und Kohlrabi sind gepflanzt. Die Tomatenpflanzen haben den kurzen Temperatureinbruch nicht so gut vertragen. Die oberirdischen Blätter sind erfroren, aber die Pflanzen treiben aus den Wurzeln und Blattachseln neu aus.
4. Für Blümchen im Sommer ist gesorgt. Auf der Freifläche im Beet habe ich eine bunte Blumenmischung ausgesät.
5. - 8. machen mir einfach nur Freude. Rhabarber kann ich bald ernten. Vergissmeinnicht sind einfach zauberhaft. Gibt fast nichts schöneres als Apfelblüte im April und Allium ist immer wieder ein Highlight im Beet und beim fliegenden Insektenvolk unglaublich beliebt.

A retrospect of April: 

1. I read about a method that allows you to keep orchids in water and I'm going to test that now that I've lost another Phalaenopsis. So far I've had great results. New shoots after just two weeks. I'll write a separate post about that.
2. I noticed that the leaves of our elm looked different than they had for the last 20 years and what surprise, they were flowers. After about 20-30 years, elms bloom for the first time and this is what it looks like. Cool, right?
3. I already planted lettuce, beetroot and kohlrabi. The tomato plants didn't tolerate the brief drop in temperature so well. The above-ground leaves froze, but the plants are sprouting new shoots from the roots and leaf axils.
4. Colorful flowers are guaranteed in the summer. I've sown a colorful flower mix in the open space in the bed.
5. - 8. just give me joy. I'll be able to harvest rhubarb soon. Forget-me-nots are simply magical. There is almost nothing more beautiful than apple blossom in April and Allium is always a highlight in the flower bed and incredibly popular with flying insects.

12tel Blick 2024 - April

Im April hat sich mein Blick total verändert. Die Blätter haben alles was links und rechts im Bild zu sehen war, ausgeblendet.

In April my view changed completely. The leaves blocked out everything that was visible on the left and right of the picture. 

Monatscollage März 2024

Monatsrückblick für März :

1. In meine Bassena pflanzte ich diesmal Schokominze und Marokkanische Teeminze. Bei Minze muss man ja aufpassen, dass sie sich nicht unaufhaltsam im Garten ausbreitet. Aber hier kann sie nicht ausbrechen. 
2. Im Holzstoss meines Schwagers sah ich diese Wurzel und bevor sie in seinem Holzofen endete, darf sie bei mir im Beet als Deko dienen.
3. Ich habe den Vollmond erwischt. Auf dem Bild winzig und unscharf, in natura einfach wunderschön.
4. Wir waren im Wald Bärlauch suchen und haben auch genug gefunden. Daraus machte ich wieder köstliches Bärlauchpesto. So wie HIER
5. Meine Tochter zauberte wieder ein Gourmetdessert als Übung für die Schule. Nougatmousse, zum Niederknien gut!
6. Endlich warm genug, um wieder auf der Terrasse zu frühstücken. Ich liebe es, wenn die Outdoorsaison beginnt.
7. Kleiner Ausflug nach Wien, Spaziergang im 1. Bezirk. In der Lindt Chocolate-Boutique gegenüber vom Stephansdom haben wir eine herrliche Schoko-Latte getrunken. 
8. Durch Alter und Sturm haben wir im letzten Jahr zwei Apfelbäume verloren und nun haben wir zwei neue gepflanzt. Einer blüht schon. 
9. Grillen unterm blühenden Magnolienbaum. Herrlich!
10. Im März war es so warm und sonnig, dass die Blumen schon Wochen früher blühten.
11. Zum ersten Mal habe ich den Lavendel statt mühsam mit der Gartenschere mit der Akku-Sense geschnitten. In kürzester Zeit und ohne Rückenschmerzen. Warum kommt man auf die einfachsten Dinge immer erst Jahre später drauf.

A retrospect of March: 

1. This time I planted Chocolate mint and Moroccan tea mint in my basin. Be careful with mint that it doesn't spread unstoppably in the garden. But it can't break out here.
2. I saw this root in my brother-in-law's pile of wood and before it ended up in his wood stove, I use it as a decoration in my bed.
3. I caught the full moon. Tiny and blurry in the picture, in reality simply beautiful.
4. We went looking for wild garlic in the forest and found enough. I used it to make delicious wild garlic pesto again. As HERE
5. My daughter whipped up another gourmet dessert as an exercise for school. Nougat mousse, so delicious!
6. Finally warm enough to have breakfast on the patio again. I love it when the outdoor season begins.
7. Short trip to Vienna, strolling along in the 1st district. We had a wonderful chocolate latte in the Lindt Chocolate boutique opposite St. Stephen's Cathedral.
8. Due to age and storms we lost two apple trees last year and now we have planted two new ones. One is already blooming.
9. Barbecue under the blooming magnolia tree. Splendid!
10. It was so warm and sunny in March that the flowers bloomed weeks earlier.
11. For the first time, I cut the lavender with the cordless trimmer instead of laboriously using pruning shears. Done in no time and without back pain. Why do we always figure out the simplest things years later?

12tel Blick 2024 - März

Schön langsam breitet sich das Grün aus. Und immer noch stimmen die Winkel im Bild nicht ganz, aber ich habe beschlossen, dass mich das nicht mehr stört.

Monatscollage Februar 2024

Monatsrückblick für Februar:

1. Schifahren in Obertauern (Salzburger Land).
2. Ausflug ins Burgenland. Bei einem Restaurant an einem Fischteich entdeckten wir diesen tollen Fotospot, ein Bilderrahmen aus Treibholz.
3. Dort haben wir auch diesen freundlichen Holzstoß entdeckt. Wer findet das 🙂 
4. Die Klasse meiner Tochter hat zu einem Probeessen vor der Abschlussprüfung eingeladen und es war herausragend köstlich.
5. Ich habe Brot gebacken und zwar ein Low-Carb-Brot. Ist sehr gut gelungen und schmeckt. 
6. Update zum Kelpie-Hund meines Schwagers: Immer noch zuckersüß!
7. Schneeglöckchenwiese im Obstgarten.
8. Wir haben uns ein paar Tage Wellness in einem Spa-Hotel im Salzburger Land gegönnt. Traumhaft schön und entspannend.
9. Magnolienblüte so früh wie noch nie. Ich hoffe, es kommt kein Frost mehr.

A retrospect of February: 

1. Skiing in Obertauern (Salzburger Land).
2. Trip to Burgenland. At a restaurant by a fish pond we discovered this great photo spot, a picture frame made of driftwood.
3. We also discovered this friendly pile of tree trunks there. Who finds that 🙂
4. My daughter's class hosted a rehearsal dinner before the final exam and it was outstandingly delicious.
5. I baked bread, a low-carb bread. It turned out very well and tastes good.
6. Update on my brother-in-law's Kelpie dog: Still cute!
7. Snowdrop meadow in the orchard.
8. We treated ourselves to a few days of wellness in a spa hotel in Salzburger Land. Fantastically beautiful and relaxing.
9. Magnolia blossoms earlier than ever before. I hope there is no more frost.

12tel Blick 2024 - Februar

Ich habe es geschafft, so viele Fotos von meinen Blicken zu machen, dass mir die Entscheidung eines auszuwählen schwer fiel und trotzdem den Blickwinkel nicht richtig einzufangen. Naja, das Jahr ist noch jung. Am Anfang gibt es immer Anpassungsschwierigkeiten. Hier Blick 1 am frühen Morgen fotografiert, ab Mittag habe ich hier total Gegenlicht. Ich bin neugierig, wie lange wir den angeschwemmten Baumstamm noch sehen werden. Momentan führt der Fluss wenig Wasser. 

I managed to take so many pictures of my views that I had a hard time choosing one and still couldn't capture the angle correctly. Well, the year is still young. At the beginning there are always difficulties in adapting. Here view 1 was photographed in the early morning, from midday I have direct backlight. I'm curious how long we'll see the washed-up log. The river currently has low water. 

Monatscollage Jänner 2024

Monatsrückblick für Jänner:

1. Ich habe was Neues ausprobiert. Und zwar brauchte ich ein Knopfloch in einem Nähprojekt. Ich habe seit ewigen Zeiten keines genäht und schon gar nicht mit dieser Nähmaschine. So ein Knopflochdingens war dabei und nachdem ich die Bedienungsanleitung gecheckt habe, hat es auch gleich geklappt. Das war ja easy.
2. Nach fast 17 Jahren mussten wir unseren Hund "Benno" gehen lassen. Fragt nicht. Im November kam unsere Katze "Hello Kitty" in den Himmel und nun "Benno". Wir sind tierlos und es fühlt sich hier etwas/ziemlich einsam und seltsam an. 
3. Ich probiere mal die Low Carb Küche aus, also Essen mit wenig Kohlenhydraten. Abgenommen habe ich bis jetzt nichts, aber schon am zweiten Tag bin ich mein ständiges Sodbrennen losgeworden und es kam auch bis jetzt nicht zurück. Süßes esse ich nach wie vor. Leider! Ich dachte immer mein Sodbrennen kommt von Schokolade, aber anscheinend von einem Übermaß an Brot und Nudeln. Und wie sich rausgestellt hat, kann ich sehr gut mit wenig Kohlenhydraten leben. Meine Low Carb-Brötchen backe ich mir jetzt selbst und Nudeln gibt es ja schon aus Kichererbsen und Linsen. Kein Sodbrennen ist so eine Verbesserung meiner Lebensqualität, dass ich auch in Zukunft auf Reduktion der Kohlenhydrate achten werde.
4. Außerdem haben meine Tochter und ich wieder einen Vorrat an Seifen gemacht. Wie das geht könnt ihr HIER nachlesen.
5. Und ich habe für mein Fotoprojekt 12tel Blick meine Blicke gefunden. Siehe HIER. Wie man an den Bildern sehen kann (ich stehe auf einer Brücke und fotografiere in beide Richtungen), liegt die Schwierigkeit darin, dass ich nur morgens und bei Bewölkung den Blick nach Südwesten ohne Gegenlicht fotografieren kann. Challenge accepted!
6. Meine Tochter, die Kochen hasst, muss in ihrer Schule jedoch in dem Fach eine Prüfung ablegen und ein Menu kochen. Sie hat zuhause mal wieder geübt, es gab "Rote Bete Mousse mit Forellenstücken und pikanter Sahne". Es war so köstlich! Wenn sie muss, dann kann sie.
7. Nach vielen vielen Jahren ist wieder mal der größte See Österreichs zugefroren, der Neusiedler See. Wir haben einen kleinen Ausflug aufs Eis gemacht. Und wie viele andere, sind wir auf dem See spazieren gegangen, eher herumgerutscht. War ungewöhnlich und lustig. 
8. Meine Tochter bekam ein rundes Puzzle geschenkt und das war echt sauschwer zu machen, weil die Teile eine bizarre Form hatten. Zu dritt haben wir es dann doch geschafft.

A retrospect of January: 

1. I tried something new. I needed a buttonhole in a sewing project. I haven't sewn one in forever and especially not with this sewing machine. There was a buttonhole thing with the standard accessories and after I checked the operating instructions, it worked out very well. That was easy.
2. After almost 17 years we had to let go our dog "Benno". Don't ask. In November our cat “Hello Kitty” went to heaven and now “Benno”. We are animal-free and it feels a bit/pretty lonely and strange here.
3. I'm going to try out low-carb cuisine, that is food with few carbohydrates. I haven't lost any weight yet, but I got rid of my constant heartburn on the second day and it hasn't come back yet. I still eat sweets. Unfortunately! I always thought my heartburn came from chocolate, but apparently it comes from an excess of bread and pasta. And as it turns out, I can live very well with few carbohydrates. I now bake my own low-carb rolls and there are already pastas made from chickpeas and lentils. No heartburn is such an improvement in my quality of life that I will continue to pay attention to reducing carbohydrates in the future.
4. My daughter and I also made another batch of soaps. You can read how to do this HERE.
5. And I found my views for my photo project 12tel Blick. See HERE. As you can see from the pictures (I'm standing on a bridge and taking pictures in both directions), the difficulty is that I can only take the picture to the southwest without backlighting in the morning and when it's cloudy. Challenge accepted!
6. My daughter, who hates cooking, has to take an exam in the subject at school and cook a meal. She practiced again at home and she created “beetroot mousse with trout pieces and spicy cream”. It was so so so delicious! If she has to, then she can.
7. After many, many years, Austria's largest lake, Lake Neusiedl, has frozen over. We took a little trip on the ice. And like many others, we walked, rather slid around, on the lake. Was unusual and funny.
8. My daughter was given a round puzzle as a gift and it was really difficult to make because the pieces had a bizarre shape. The three of us finally made it.

12tel Blick 2024 - Jänner

Willkommen bei meinem 12tel Blick 2024 mit zwei Änderungen. Erstens zeigt mein Blick nicht meinen Garten, sondern den Fluss an dem ich lebe, und zweitens sind es 2 Blicke. Zum Fotografieren stehe ich auf einer Fußgängerbrücke und da bietet es sich natürlich an, gleich in beide Richtungen zu fotografieren. Einmal nach Südwesten und einmal nach Nordosten. Die Fußgängerbrücke ist nur ein paar Meter von meinem Haus entfernt und ich muss sie überqueren, wenn ich zum örtlichen Lebensmittelgeschäft gehe oder zum Arzt. Oder fast täglich die vier Jahre, die ich meine Tochter in die Grundschule begleitet habe. Oder zum Spazierengehen. Rechts sieht man einen Weg, das ist der Piestingtal-Radweg und der Fluss heißt Piesting. Die Piesting entspringt nördlich des Schneeberges (der höchste Berg Niederösterreichs) in einer Höhe von etwa 1180 m und mündet nach ca. 90 km und etwa 1000 Höhenmetern Abstieg in die Fischa bei 177 Höhenmetern. Die Piesting sieht harmlos aus, ist es aber nicht. Nach vielen vereehrenden Hochwassern, wurde sie, wie man erkennen kann, gezähmt und im Bereich des Ortes reguliert. Zur Zeit der Schneeschmelze in den Gutensteiner Alpen ist das Bachbett gefüllt bis oben hin und auf der Brücke hat man ein mulmiges Gefühl, wenn das wilde schmutzige, eiskalte Wasser bis auf 50 cm zur Brücke heranreicht und das Wasser, die Füsse naßspritzt.

Welcome to my 12th view 2024 with two changes. Firstly, my view does not show my garden, but the river where I live, and secondly, there are 2 views. To take pictures I stand on a pedestrian bridge and of course it makes sense to take pictures in both directions. Once to the southwest and once to the northeast. The footbridge is just a few meters from my house and I have to cross it when I go to the local grocery store or to the doctor. Or almost every day for the four years that I accompanied my daughter to primary school. Or for a walk. On the right you can see a path, this is the Piestingtal cycle path and the river is called Piesting. The Piesting river rises north of the Schneeberg (the highest mountain in Lower Austria) at an altitude of around 1180 m (3.871 ft) and flows into the Fischa river at an altitude of 177 meters (580 ft) after around 90 km (56 mi) and around 1000 meters of descent. The Piesting river looks harmless, but it is not. After many devastating floods, it was, as can be seen, tamed and regulated in the local area. When the snow melts in the Gutenstein Alps, the stream bed is filled to the top and on the bridge you have an uneasy feeling when the wild, dirty, ice-cold water comes within 50 cm (1,64 ft) of the bridge and the water splashes your feet. 

Glas mit Häkeldeckel - Jar with Crocheted Lid

Über meine Flaschengarten habe ich schon berichtet und wie ihr sehen könnt, gedeihen die kleinen Pflanzen sehr gut im Glas. Einmal habe ich gegen Trauermücken gekämpft und die Erde ausgetauscht, was auch gut gegen die Schädlinge geholfen hat (könnt ihr HIER nachlesen). 

Die Gläser habe ich ohne Deckel bekommen. Damit nicht nochmal Insekten Eier in die Erde legen, wollte ich eine Abdeckung haben, die man leicht abnehmen kann. Ich habe früher schon mal einen Deckel gehäkelt für ein Glas mit Nudeln. Also habe ich wieder die Häkelnadel geschwungen und mit dünner Baumwolle Deckel für meine Pflanzengläser gehäkelt. Das ist ganz einfach, man häkelt einen Kreis (da gibt es genug Anleitungen im Internet) bis er die Größe der Öffnung hat und hört dann mit den Maschenzunahmen auf. Jetzt häkeln man nur mehr in Runden bis zur gewünschten Höhe des Deckelhalses. Gefällt mir!

I have already reported about my bottle garden and as you can see, the small plants thrive very well in the glass. Once I fought against fungus gnats and replaced the soil, which excellently helped against the pests (you can read it HERE).

I received the jars without lids. To prevent insects from laying eggs in the soil again, I wanted a cover that could be easily removed. I have previously crocheted a lid for a jar of pasta. So I swung the crochet hook again and crocheted lids for my plant jars with thin cotton. It's very simple, you crochet a circle (there are plenty of instructions on the internet) until it is the size of the opening and then stop increasing the stitches. Now just crochet in the round until you have reached the desired height of the lid neck. Love it! 

Monatscollage Dezember 2023

Monatsrückblick für Dezember: 

1. Am 5. Dezember war Krampustag und wir haben einen Adventmarkt besucht, wo auch eine wilde Horde Krampusse einfiel. Aber so gruselig sie auch aussahen, sind sie doch freundlich gewesen und immer zu einem Selfie bereit. 
2. Kreativ war ich auch: für meine Pflanzengläser habe ich Deckel gehäkelt. Den Pflanzen geht es ausgezeichnet und mit den Deckeln können keine Fliegen oder andere Insekten Eier in die Erde legen. 
3. Und außerdem habe ich wieder Stoffservietten genäht. Die Muster gefallen mir sehr gut. Wie man die Stoffservietten näht seht ihr HIER. 
4. An zwei Tagen hatten wir ein sagenhaft schönes Morgenrot.
5. Außerdem schneite es viel zu Monatsbeginn und wir nutzten die Schneetage für Spaziergänge bei strahlendem Wetter.
6. Dann war Weihnachten und wir hatten erstmals keine zimmerhohe Tanne (Kind ist erwachsen, und ich brauch nicht soviel Baum im Zimmer), sondern nur etwa 2 Meter. Mein Mann war jahrelangem dagegen, aber dann dennoch entzückt, weil er auf keine Leiter mehr steigen musste. Na also geht doch. 
7. Das Lieblingsgeschenk meines Mannes, bekam er von unserer Tochter und zwar eine Vintage Porzellantasse, die aussieht als wäre sie aus Email. 
8. Eine Überraschung erwartete uns beim Weihnachtsbesuch bei den Verwandten. Mein Schwager hat sich einen zuckersüßen Welpen zugelegt, nachdem im Frühjahr seine Hündin nach 13 Jahren eingeschlafen ist. Die Rasse heißt Kelpie und die Kleine hat so ein freundliches Wesen. Wir waren alle ganz verzückt. 
9. Dann gab's noch Nachtskifahren am Semmering. Das ist immer herrlich, weil abends wenig Leute sind und die Pisten wieder hergerichtet werden. Echt ein Tipp, wenn jemand im Einzugsgebiet wohnt.
10. Silvester haben wir wieder den Griller ausgepackt. Die Temperaturen haben das durchaus zugelassen. Der Schnee von Beginn des Monats war weg, nachdem das Thermometer auf 17°C gestiegen war.

A retrospect of December: 

1. December 5th was Krampus Day and we visited an Advent market where a wild horde of Krampuses invaded. But as scary as they looked, they were friendly and always willing to stop and post for a picture or selfie.
2. I was also creative: I crocheted lids for my plant jars. The plants are doing excellently and with the lids no flies or other insects can lay eggs in the soil.
3. And I also sewed cloth napkins again. I really like the patterns. You can see how to sew the cloth napkins HERE.
4. On two days we had an incredibly beautiful dawn.
5. It also snowed a lot at the beginning of the month and we used the snow days for walks in bright weather.
6. Then it was Christmas and for the first time we didn't have a fir tree that was as high as the room (the child is grown up and I don't need that much tree in the room), but only about 2 meters. My husband was against it for years, but was still delighted because he no longer had to climb a ladder. Ah, there you go. 
7. My husband's favorite gift was given to him by our daughter and it was a vintage porcelain cup that looked like it was made of enamel.
8. A surprise awaited us when we visited our relatives at Christmas. My brother-in-law got a sweet puppy after his dog of 13 years fell asleep in the spring. The breed is called Kelpie and the little one has such a friendly nature. We were all thrilled.
9. Then there was night skiing at Semmering. This is always wonderful because there are few people in the evening and the slopes are being prepared again. Really a tip if someone lives in the catchment area.
10. We unpacked the grill again on New Year's Eve. The temperatures certainly allowed that. The snow from the beginning of the month was gone after the thermometer rose to 17°C.

12tel Blick 2023 - Dezember

Geschafft! 12 Monate, 12 Bilder. Ein Bild mit Schnee. Soviel Schnee wie im November und Dezember hatten wir schon Jahre nicht mehr. Und trotzdem war es warm wie nie. Am Weihnachtstag zeigte das Thermometer bei uns 17°C. Mein Kopf wollte am liebsten explodieren. Seit ein paar Jahren nimmt meine Wetterfühligkeit zu. Besonders bei Föhnwind. Hatte ich früher nie. 

Done! 12 months, 12 pictures. A picture with snow. We haven't had as much snow as we did in November and December in years. And yet it was warmer than ever. On Christmas Day the thermometer showed 17°C. My head wanted to explode. My sensitivity to the weather has been increasing over the last few years. Especially in foehn weather. I never had it before.

Monatscollage November 2023

Monatsrückblick für November:

1. Es ist noch ein Foto von Madeira dabei, wo wir unseren letzten Urlaub verbracht haben. Der reichte in den November hinein. Zu sehen ist eine Küstenlandschaft im Westen des Landes. Mehr von der Reise auf diese wunderschöne Insel könnt ihr HIER sehen. 
2. Ich gestehe ich probiere gerne Rezeptideen von Instagram aus. Manche sind so genial einfach wie dieses Langos ähnliche Fladenbrot. Nur ist es kein Brot, sondern ein mit Öl, Knoblauch und Parmesan belegtes Tortilla. Ein paar Minuten im Backrohr und man hat einen knusprigen Snack. Je länger man sie backt, desto mehr wie Chips. 
3. Schokobrötchen habe ich auch nachgebacken. So fluffig und herrlich. Mehr dazu gibt's in meinem Instagram. 
4. Die traurigste Sache dieses Monats war das Ableben unserer geliebten Katze "Hello Kitty". Sie war leider sehr krank. Unglaublich wie groß die Lücke ist, die sie hinterläßt. Ein Drama. Bei uns und auch bei Benno, unserem Hund. Mehr mag ich gar nicht dazu sagen. 
5. Die Weintrauben waren reif und ich habe sie zu Traubengelee verarbeitet. Das schmeckt uns allen sehr gut. 
6. Ich habe eine zu weite Jeans für meine Tochter enger genäht und das ist mir ganz gut gelungen. Mehr dazu HIER. 
7. Meine Tochter hat in ihrer Schule das Unterrichtsfach Kochen. Sie hasst es. Zuhause kocht sie nicht freiwillig. Sie muss jedoch für ihren Abschluss auch eine Kochprüfung machen und voller Widerwillen übt sie jetzt daheim einige Rezepte durch. Das Ergebnis ist aber immer sehr gut. Es mag ihr an Interesse und Lust zu Kochen mangeln, aber die Resultate sind köstlich. 
8. Diesmal habe ich mir was Neues für den Adventskalender ausgedacht. Bisher hing nur Süßes dran, das ich besorgt und drangemacht habe. Das wollte ich nicht mehr. Wir sind zu dritt und jeder war für acht Sackerl verantwortlich. Ausdrücklich war nicht nur Schokolade gewünscht, sondern auch günstige andere Kleinigkeiten. Das löste großes Kopfzerbrechen bei Tochter und Mann aus, aber dennoch war der Adventskalender schon eine Woche vorher bestückt und die Neugier groß. 
9. Außerdem habe ich mich noch erinnert, dass ich Süßkartoffel im Beet habe. Die Ernte war aber enttäuschend. Erde oder Klima passt anscheinend nicht so gut bei uns. 
10. Und es hat geschneit. Aber so richtig. Auch bei uns im Flachland. Ich freue mich jedesmal darüber. Im Garten schaut es schön aus. Auf der Straße brauche ich keinen Schnee.

A retrospect of November: 

1. There is another picture of Madeira, where we spent our last vacation. You can see a coastal landscape in the west of the country. You can see more of the trip to this beautiful island HERE. 
2. I admit I like to try out recipe ideas from Instagram. Some are as brilliantly simple as these langos-like flatbreads. Only it's not bread, but a tortilla topped with oil, garlic and parmesan. A few minutes in the oven and you have a crispy snack. The longer you bake them, the more like chips they become.
3. I also baked chocolate rolls. So fluffy and wonderful. You can find out more about this in my Instagram.
4. The saddest thing this month was the passing of our beloved cat, Hello Kitty. Unfortunately she was very ill. It's unbelievable how big the gap is that she leaves behind. A painful loss for us and our dog Benno. I don't want to say anything more about it.
5. The grapes were ripe and I made them into grape jelly. We all like it very much.
6. I altered a pair of jeans that were too wide for my daughter and I managed it quite well. More about this HERE.
7. My daughter has cooking as a subject at school. She hates it. At home she doesn't cook voluntarily. However, she also has to take a cooking test to graduate and, reluctantly, she is now practicing some recipes at home. But the result is always very good. She may lack interest and desire to cook, but the meals are delicious.
8. This time I came up with something new for the Advent calendar. So far there have only been sweets hanging on it, which I got and put on. I didn't want that anymore. There were three of us and each was responsible for eight bags. Not only chocolate was specifically requested, but also other inexpensive little things. This caused a lot of headaches for daughter and husband, but the Advent calendar had already been stocked a week in advance and curiosity was great.
9. I also remembered that I have sweet potatoes in the garden bed. But the harvest was disappointing. The soil or climate doesn't seem to suit them very well.
10. And it snowed. A lot. Even here in the lowlands. I'm happy about it every time. It looks beautiful in the backyard. But I don't need snow on the street.
