It is autumn, and you can tell at a glance from my photo. The leaves of the juneberry in the foreground have already changed color, as have those of the neighbor's chestnut tree on the right. The pool has been packed away, and the vegetables are being harvested. I have already removed the zucchini plants and picked the last of the cucumbers; both plants produced a great yield despite the hot summer.

The garden has really suffered during this hot summer. The lawn is slowly recovering, although weeds are always the first to sprout in the bare patches. The tomatoes have yielded less than ever, and the four pumpkin plants—despite producing plenty of foliage—have managed to grow only three!!! pumpkins. All that effort spent watering didn't really pay off.

Only three pumpkins from four plants after all that watering, that's a bit of a slap in the face. At least the zucchini and cucumbers didn't let you down. The juneberry leaves already turning make a nice frame for the photo.
ReplyDeleteI hope next summer brings a few rainy days. Who would have thought that one day we’d wish for rainy days?
DeleteThe autumn colors look lovely in your garden, even if the pumpkins didn’t cooperate this year. At least the zucchini and cucumbers gave you a good harvest -- it’s always nice when some plants make up for the others.
ReplyDeleteThe plants in the garden behave differently each year. Sometimes one kind dominates and thrives, while at other times it is another.
DeleteBeautiful garden and pictures !
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend !

Hi Anna! Thank you. Have a nice day yourself :)
DeleteI am also slowly recovering from summer, it's been so hot and humid. The weather is beautiful now and I've just put in Nasturtium seeds, best time of the year.

Hi Amalia! Nasturtium is so an adorable little flower. You can't go wrong with that.
