Monatscollage Mai 2025

Monatsrückblick für Mai:

1. Muttertag war herrliches Wetter und für mich gab's einen Ausflug zum Ottensteiner Stausee. Wunderschön dort!
2. Meine Rose Augusta Luise, die ich letztes Jahr gepflanzt habe, gedeiht prächtig und hat viele Knospen. 
3. Wir waren wieder mal beim Bowling mit Tochter und ihrer Freundin. Macht immer wieder Spaß.
4. Ein sehr hübscher Bettbezug meiner Schwiegermutter erlitt aus Versehen einen langen Riss. Mir hat das Muster, hellblau mit Margaritenblüten, so gut gefallen, dass ich sie gebeten habe, den Bezug mir statt der Mülltonne zu schenken. Ich habe daraus 3 Kissenbezüge genäht, die ich gut gebrauchen kann. 
5. Genäht habe ich mir auch eine Japanische Knotentasche. Alles darüber könnt ihr HIER nachlesen. Nur so viel: Love it
6. Durch meine Strickerei für die Spendenkiste, habe ich mir nun mein eigenes Strickmuster ausgedacht. Musste ja so kommen. Im Internet gibt es viele freie Muster und beim Stricken spuken dann eigene Ideen im Kopf herum.  
7. Eine Königskerze (Verbascum) hat sich im Kies direkt neben der Regenrinne beim Eingang zum Hof angesiedelt und wird uns bald mit einer gigantischen Blüte erfreuen.
8. Im Gemüsebeet erfreuen mich die Ringelblumen (Calendula officinalis), die von alleine immer an dieser Stelle blühen, obwohl ich das Beet immer ganz leicht umgrabe und durchjäte, bevor gepflanzt wird. Ich mag Blumen im Gemüsebeet, es hat sich auch noch viel Borretsch (Borago officinalis) ausgesät. Beides sind Bienenmagnete, so kann ich sicher gehen, dass alles bestäubt wird. 
9. In der nächstgelegenen Stadt, Wiener Neustadt, wurde eine Straße der Innenstadt total süß dekoriert. Macht sogar gute Laune bei Regenwetter. Gefällt mir!

A retrospect of May:

1. Mother's Day was wonderful weather, and we went on a trip to the Ottenstein Reservoir. It's beautiful there!
2. My rose, Augusta Luise, which I planted last year, is thriving and has lots of buds.
3. We went bowling with my daughter and her friend. It's always fun.
4. My mother-in-law's very pretty bedspread accidentally developed a long tear. I liked the pattern, light blue with daisy blossoms, so much that I asked her to give it to me instead of the trash can. I sewed three pillowcases out of it, which I can put to good use.
5. I also sewed a Japanese knot bag. You can read all about it HERE. I'll just say this: Love it.
6. Through my knitting for the donation box, I've now come up with my own knitting pattern. It was bound to happen. There are many free patterns online, and while knitting, my own ideas pop into my head.
7. A mullein (Verbascum) has taken root in the gravel right next to the gutter at the courtyard entrance and will soon delight us with a gigantic bloom.
8. In the vegetable patch, I'm delighted by the marigolds (Calendula officinalis), which always bloom on their own in this spot, even though I always lightly dig and weed the bed before planting. I like flowers in the vegetable patch, and a lot of borage (Borago officinalis) has also gone to seed. Both are bee magnets, so I can be sure that everything will be pollinated.
9. In the nearest town, Wiener Neustadt, a street in the city center has been decorated in a really sweet way. It even cheers up in rainy weather. I like it!

12tel Blick 2025 - Mai

Es hat viel geregnet im Mai und es war ungewöhnlich kalt. Jetzt ist Ende Mai und die Heizung läuft immer noch hin und wieder. Der Natur gefällt es, meinen Feldgurken im Beet nicht so. Die wollen es schön warm haben. Gewachsen sind die Pflanzen bis jetzt nicht und die Blätter sehen durch die starken Regenfälle zerfleddert aus. Ich warte mal noch eine Woche, aber wenn sie nicht durchtreiben, muss ich wohl neue Pflanzen kaufen. 
Meinen Maiblick habe ich an einem schönen Tag gemacht und einen Motorradfahrer und einen Fußgänger erwischt. Der Kastanienbaum rechts vorne blüht und alles ist frischgrün. 

It rained a lot in May and it was unusually cold. It's the end of May now, and the heating is still running on and off. Nature likes it, but my cucumbers in the gardenbed don't. They like it nice and warm. The plants haven't grown yet, and the leaves look tattered from the heavy rain. I'll wait another week, but if they don't sprout, I'll probably have to buy new plants.

I took my May picture on a beautiful day and caught a motorcyclist and a pedestrian. The chestnut tree in the front right is in bloom, and everything is a fresh green. 

DIY - Japanische Knotentasche - Japanese Knot Bag

Ich liebe große Handtaschen. Mit den Inhalt meiner Handtasche kann ich sofort campen, in Urlaub fahren, eine Geburtstagsfeier ausrichten oder was in die Luft sprengen. Aber manchmal will ich nur was Kleines, wo Geldbörse, Brillenetui, Handy und Hausschlüssel reinpassen. Und da bin ich bei einer Japanischen Knotentasche gelandet. Eine Tasche, die kaum genialer sein kann. Durch die unterschiedlich langen Henkel, kann sie schnell und einfach geschlossen werden, sodass auch nichts rausfällt. Sie wird am Handgelenk getragen. Macht man den einen Henkel länger, kann die Tasche auch an der Schulter hängen. Simpel und genial! 

I love large handbags. With the contents of my handbag, I can go camping, go on vacation, host a birthday party, or blow something up in a heartbeat. But sometimes I just want something small, big enough to fit my wallet, glasses case, cell phone, and house keys. And that's when I came up with a Japanese knot bag. A bag that couldn't be more ingenious. The handles of different lengths make it quick and easy to close, so nothing falls out. It's worn on the wrist. If you make one of the handles longer, the bag can also be slung over the shoulder. Simple and ingenious! 

Jahresprojekt 2025 - April

Stricken für die Spendenkiste

Der April hat mich voll eingebremst. Naja, es war eher die Gartenarbeit, die im April wieder beginnt und mich voll und ganz beansprucht hat. Und so habe ich nur zwei Sachen geschafft. Eine Mütze und ein Paar Socken. Zum Glück habe ich mit meiner Strickerei meine Tochter inspiriert und angesteckt und sie hat mich tatkräftig unterstützt, nachdem sie in den Tiefen ihres Zimmers auch noch Wolle gefunden hatte. Sie ist eine erfahrene Schalstrickerin. Äh ja. Und sie strickt schön und gleichmäßig. Mehr kann man dazu nicht sagen. Für die Haube hat sie ein Rechteck gestrickt. Ich habe oben noch ein paar Maschen abgenommen und zusammen gezogen und an der Seite zusammen genäht. Und so haben noch ein paar Teile in die Spendenkiste gefunden. 

Knitting for Charity

April really slowed me down. Well, it was more the gardening season, which starts again in April and took up all of my time. And so I only managed two things: a hat and a pair of socks. Luckily, I inspired and infected my daughter with my knitting, and she gave me lots of support after she found some wool in the depths of her room. She's an experienced scarf knitter. Oh yes. And she knits beautifully and evenly. That's all there is to say. For the hat, she knitted a rectangle. I decreased a few stitches at the top, pulled them together, and sewed them together at the side. And so a few more pieces found their way into the donation box.

I wie Infoschild

Bei Elfi von ELFis Kartenblog gibt es die ABC-Foto-LinkParty. Für mich war der Buchstabe eine harte Nuss. Die guten Begriffe waren schnell vergeben und sonst wollte mir nichts einfallen. Also habe ich mich ins Internetlexikon begeben und mich mal bei I umgeschaut. Beim Wort "Infoschild" hatte ich sofort Bilder im Kopf.

Elfi from ELFi's Blog hosts the ABC Photo Link Party. This letter was a tough nut to crack for me. The good terms were quickly taken, and I couldn't think of anything else. So I went to the online dictionary and looked up the letter "I". The word "Information sign" immediately conjured up images. 

12tel Blick 2025 - April

Letztes Mal fragte ich, ob man die Häuser im April noch sehen könnte. Nein, denn der Frühling hat voll zugeschlagen. Jedes Jahr im April findet eine Transformation von kahl zu grün statt in nur wenigen Tagen. Siehe Bilder weiter unten. Das Gegenlichtfoto entstand am späten Nachmittag beim Spazieren gehen. Ich wollte eigentlich nur ein Sicherheitsfoto machen, damit ich was habe, falls ich es am nächsten Tag vormittag nicht zum Fotostandort schaffe. Aber dann hat es mir so gut gefallen, dass ich mich dafür entschieden habe.

Last time I asked if the houses could still be seen in April. No, because spring has sprung. Every April, a transformation from bare to green takes place in just a few days. See photos below. This backlit shot was taken while I was out walking in the late afternoon. I actually just wanted to take a safety photo so I have something in case I couldn't make it to the photo location the next morning. But then I liked it so much that I decided to go for it. 

Monatscollage April 2025

Monatsrückblick für April: 

1. Ende April habe ich meine Beete bepflanzt. Diesmal mehr Feldgurken. Da stehen wir alle drauf. Und Mangold, das ist so ähnlich wie Pak Choi und das mögen wir auch. 
2. Für die Spendenkiste sind ein weiteres Paar Bananensocken und eine Mütze entstanden. Viel weniger als letzten Monat, aber im April beginnt bei mir auch die Gartensaison. Da ist gerade zu Beginn sehr viel zu tun.
3. Und ich bin intensiv mit Ausmisten beschäftigt, daher wurde über einen Online Marktplatz gebrauchtes Sandspielzeug meiner Tochter ...
4. ... und fast 100 gebrauchte Tennisbälle meines Mannes verschenkt. Da gab es echt viele Interessenten. Wer hätte das gedacht.
5. Dezimiert wurden auch unsere Schuhe. Ich habe meine Schuhe alle rausgesucht in eine Reihe gestellt und dann entschieden, welche in den Müll (weil kaputt) oder gespendet  (weil gut, aber nicht mehr benutzt) werden. Das dauerte nur 2 Minuten, die die weg kommen, habe ich nach vor oder zurück gestellt. Erledigt.
6. Außerdem habe ich genäht. Eine lange Tunika oder ein kurzes Kleidchen für mich. Ich muss mich auch mal wieder durch meine unangetasteten Stoffe wühlen. Bei den meisten habe ich vergessen, für welchen Zweck ich sie gekauft habe.
7. Und es ist Frühling! Die Natur explodiert gerade. Es ist so wunderschön draußen. Das hier ist die Blüte von meinem Mandelbäumchen (Prunus triloba).

A retrospect of April: 

1. At the end of April, I planted my vegetable beds. This time, I planted more field cucumbers. We all love them. And chard, which is similar to bok choy, and we like that too.
2. I made another pair of banana socks and a hat for the donation box. Much less than last month, but April also marks the start of my gardening season. There's a lot to do, especially at the beginning.
3. And I'm busy decluttering, so I gave away my daughter's used sand toys...
4. ...and almost 100 of my husband's used tennis balls via an online marketplace. There were a lot of interested parties. Who would have thought?
5. Our shoes were also decimated. I picked out all my shoes, lined them up, and then decided which ones would be thrown away (because they were broken) or donated (because they were good but no longer used). That only took two minutes; I moved the ones that were going to the front or back. Done.
6. I also sewed. A long tunic or a short dress for myself. I also need to dig through my untouched fabrics. I've forgotten what I bought most of them for.
7. And it's spring! Nature is exploding. It's so beautiful outside. This is the blossom of my flowering plum or almond (Prunus triloba).

Jahresprojekt 2025 - März

Stricken für die Spendenkiste 

Im März war ich voll fleißig. Inzwischen liebe ich es, Mützen zu stricken. Im Geschäft habe ich mich schon wieder bei der Wolle umgesehen. Zum Glück hatte ich meine Tochter dabei, die energisch einschritt und mich weg zog. Ja kurz war ich schwach geworden und hatte einen neuen Wollkauf erwogen. Aber ... das hat mich ja erst in diese Lage gebracht. Wollberge. Doch ich bin dabei, die weg zu stricken. 

Knitting for Charity

In March, I was extremely busy. I now love knitting hats. I was already browsing the yarn in the store again. Luckily, my daughter was with me, and she stepped in forcefully and pulled me away. Yes, I had briefly given in and considered buying more yarn. But ... that's what got me into this situation in the first place: Mountains of yarn. But I'm in the process of knitting them away.

Bei Elfi von ELFis Kartenblog gibt es die ABC-Foto-LinkParty. Diesmal dreht sich bei mir alles um Holunderblüten, denn davon habe ich jedes Jahr genug, weil ich gleich zwei Holunderbäume (Sambucus nigra) im Garten habe.

Monatscollage März 2025

Monatsrückblick für März: 

1. Das Monat begann mit einem Ausflug nach Bratislava. Die Hauptstadt der Slowakei ist nur eine Stunde von Wien entfernt und somit nah genug, wenn man schön deftig Mittagessen will oder nur Lust auf Kaffee und Mehlspeise hat. 
2. Mein Mann hat sich mit Freunden zum Schifahren verabredet und sie hatten das sonnigste Wochenende am Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun.
3. Wenn mein Mann sich bei Skifahren vergnügt, verbringen meine Tochter und ich eine schöne Zeit im Spa ...
4. ... und im Kino mit Karamellpopcorn. Da stehen wir beide drauf.
5. Mitte des Monats war es so warm, dass unser Terrassenbett eröffnet wurde. Mit Jacke und Schal und unter der Decke war es kuschelig warm. 
6. Frühlingsbeginn war auch. Immer erstaunlich sind die süßen Zwergiris (Iris reticulata), die auf dem Poolplatz wachsen. Obwohl dort die Erde total verdichtet und steinhart ist, weil das tonnenschwere Pool jedes Jahr draufsteht, schauen die Iris zuverlässlich im Frühling aus der Erde. 
7. Wir haben außerdem das wunderschön restaurierte Schloss Walpersdorf besucht, wo eine Osterausstellung stattfand. Nett.
8. Im März war ich fleißig. Mein Jahresprojekt "Stricken für die Spendenkiste" gedeiht.
9. Und ein kleines Update zu meinen Orchideen im Glas oder in der Vase. Die gedeihen auch sehr gut.

A retrospect of March: 

1. The month began with a trip to Bratislava. The capital of Slovakia is only an hour from Vienna, close enough if you want a nice hearty lunch or just fancy coffee and a pastry.
2. My husband met up with friends to go skiing, and they had the sunniest weekend ever on the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun.
3. While my husband is enjoying skiing, my daughter and I spend time at the spa ...
4. ... and at the movies with caramel popcorn. We both love that.
5. In the middle of the month, it was so warm that we opened up our patio bed. With a jacket and scarf and under the blanket, it was cozy and warm.
6. It was also the beginning of spring. The sweet dwarf irises (Iris reticulata) growing around the pool area are always amazing. Although the soil there is completely compacted and rock hard because the multi-ton pool sits on it every year, the irises reliably peek out of the ground in spring.
7. We also visited the beautifully restored Walpersdorf Castle, where an Easter exhibition was taking place. Nice.
8. I was busy in March. My annual project, "Knitting for Charity," is thriving.
9. And a little update on my orchids in glass or vases. They're also thriving.

12tel Blick 2025 - März

Der März präsentierte sich wechselhaft mit einem Hauch Grün. Diesmal habe ich zufällig den Regionalbus erwischt, der gerade vorbei fuhr. Noch kann man die Wohnhäuser hinter den Bäumen erkennen. Mal schauen, ob man die im April noch sieht. 

March presents itself with changeable weather, with a hint of green. This time, I happened to catch the regional bus that was passing by. You can still see the houses behind the trees. Let's see if you can still see them in April. 

Jahresprojekt 2025 - Februar

Andrea von die Zitronenfalterin sammelt Jahresprojekte. Letztes Mal habe ich mich erst total spät dazu entschlossen, aus einer Idee ein Jahresprojekt zu machen und bei Andreas Link Party zu zeigen. Ich hoffe diesen Monat bin ich etwas organisierter. 

In meinem Projekt "Stricken für die Spendenkiste" geht es darum, meinen Wollvorrat drastisch zu verkleinern. Ich habe nicht nur Sockenwolle, sondern auch dickere Wollknäuel, die sich für Mützen sehr gut eignen. Socken stricken kann ich wirklich sehr gut, aber mit Strickmützen habe ich wenig Erfahrung. Bis jetzt! Ich glaube ich werde immer besser. Auch wenn ich manchmal ribbeln muss (weil ich zu faul bin, eine Maschenprobe zu stricken), weil ich mich bei der Anzahl der Maschen verschätzt habe. Ja ich mach das Daumen mal Pi. Ich denke, wenn sie mir und meinem Mann passen, dann passt das schon. Momentan macht mir das Mützenstricken soviel Spaß, dass ich erst ein Paar Socken geschafft habe. Aber das Jahr ist ja noch lang.

Bei Elfi von ELFis Kartenblog gibt es die ABC-Foto-LinkParty. ABC heißt die LinkParty, weil monatlich ein Buchstabe in der Reihenfolge des Alphabets für das Bildmotiv verwendet wird. Zu viele Fotos im Speicher werden nicht mehr beachtet, hier bekommen sie eine Möglichkeit gezeigt zu werden. 

• G wie Geburtstagskuchen: Dieser Geburtstagskuchen für meinen Mann, schon vor einigen Jahren, ist mir anscheinend so gut gelungen, dass er immer als Vergleich oder als Idee und Inspiration her halten muss. Die Sache ist nur die: ich koche und backe sehr vage nach Rezept. Ich weiß noch, dass ich zwei verschiedene Kuchen gebacken habe, weil einer zu niedrig war und dass ich Marzipan zum Eindecken verwendet habe, weil das bei uns jeder mag. Allerdings weiß ich nicht mehr, welche Cremes ich verwendete, es waren zwei verschiedene und angeblich war auch irgendwas Saures und Crunchiges dabei. 
• G wie Grashüpfer: Es war Sommer, ich lümmelte auf meinem Terrassenbett und bekam plötzlich Besuch von diesem Riesenhüpfer. 
• G wie Geschenk: Unsere Katze Kitty hatte ein Geschenk (Maus) in meinem Gartenschlapfen hinterlassen. Ob's ein Geschenk war, weiß ich nicht mehr so wirklich. Kann auch eine Drohung gewesen sein. Katzen eben.
• G wie Grabungsarbeiten: Direkt vorm Haus wurde mal wieder aufgegraben. Ist auch schon lange her. Vor Schreck habe ich gleich ein Foto gemacht. Das letzte Mal als sie (Arbeiter) den Gehsteig vorm Haus aufgruben, war da zwei Monate in Loch. Dankenswerterweise haben sie nach Nachfrage eine Platte darübergelgt, sodass wir das Haus verlassen konnten. 
• G wie Gemüserolle: Diese Rolle ging ja in den Sozielen Medien viral und was soll ich sagen. Ausprobiert und für total lecker befunden. Es war Abend und das Licht mies und am nächsten Tag war nix mehr da zum Fotografieren. 
• G wie Gipfelkreuz: Dieses Gipfelkreuz steht irgendwo am Schneeberg/Niederösterreich. Ich bin keine Bergkraxlerin und eine Seltenwanderin. Daher findet man in meinen Fotos nur Gipfelkreuze, die man mit Bahn oder Gondel und einem leichten kurzen Gehweg erreichen kann.

DIY - Einkaufstasche nähen - Sew a Tote Bag

Blaumann wird zur Einkaufstasche 

Meine Tochter brauchte eine große Einkaufstasche, um Lebensmitteleinkäufe vom Auto zum Haus zu tragen. Zu Hause lag ein alter kaum benutzter Blaumann (blaue Arbeitsmontur) herum. Der feste Stoff der Arbeitskleidung wurde zerkleinert und in eine große Tasche umgewandelt. Von alten zerrissenen Rucksäcken schneide ich mir immer Bänder und Schnallen ab, daher konnte ich die Riemen hier auch wieder verwenden. Mit dem Ergebnis sind wir beide sehr zufrieden. 

Work clothes become shopping bag 

My daughter needed a large shopping bag to carry groceries from the car to the house. At home, I had an old, barely used boiler suit lying around. The sturdy fabric of the work clothes was turned into a large bag. I always cut straps and buckles off old, torn backpacks, so I was able to reuse the straps here. We are both very happy with the result. 

Monatscollage Februar 2025

Monatsrückblick für Februar: 

1. In diesem Monat war Valentinstag, aber diesen Frühlingsblumentopf habe ich mir schon früher gegönnt. Und jetzt steht er neben dem immer noch schönen Weihnachtsstern.
2. Zu Beginn des Monats war es mal wieder so richtig kalt mit Temperaturen unter dem Gefrierpunkt. Bei den alten Fenstern reichte es, um die Eisblumen blühen zu lassen.
3. Meine Tochter backt gerne und zauberte leckere Apfeltaschen.
4. Ein alter noch sehr schöner Blaumann (Arbeitskleidung) wurde zu einer großen Tasche umfunktioniert. Klick HIER
5. Und nach vielen Jahren waren wir spontan Blutspenden, weil es gleich nebenan in der Schule stattfand. Und wir haben uns vorgenommen, das ab jetzt wieder regelmäßiger zu machen.
6. 7. 8. Für mein Jahresprojekt "Stricken für die Spendenkiste" sind weitere drei Mützen entstanden. In einer Ecke meines Nähzimmers habe ich noch eine Tasche mit Wolle entdeckt. Material geht also nicht aus.

A retrospect of February: 

1. This month was Valentine's Day, but I treated myself to this spring flower pot earlier. And now it's next to the still beautiful poinsettia.
2. At the beginning of the month it was really cold with temperatures below freezing. With the old windows it was enough to make the frost flowers bloom.
3. My daughter loves to bake and conjured up delicious apple turnovers.
4. An old, still very nice work boiler suit was converted into a large bag. CLICK to see
5. And after many years we spontaneously went to donate blood because it was taking place right next door at the school. And we've decided to do it more regularly from now on.
6. 7. 8. For my annual project "Knitting for the donation box" I made three more hats. I discovered a bag of wool in a corner of my sewing room. So there's no shortage of material.

12tel Blick 2025 - Februar

Wir nennen das Hochnebel. In der Früh lag der Nebel noch dicht am Boden. Nebel mag ich ja, aber so dicht am Boden wäre mein Bild nur grau gewesen mit nichts drauf zu sehen. Ich habe noch etwas gewartet bis er gegen Mittag höher stieg. Aber jetzt schaut es aus, als wäre es nur ein trüber Tag. Naja, ich bin ja kein professioneller Fotograf, der sich stundenlang auf die Lauer legt, um den richtigen Schuss abzugeben. So ist es halt jetzt. 

We call it high fog. In the morning the fog was still close to the ground. I like fog, but if it was that close to the ground my picture would have been just grey with nothing visible. I waited a little longer until it rose higher around midday. But now it looks like it was just a cloudy day. Well, I'm not a professional photographer who lies in wait for hours to get the right shot. That's just how it is now.

Jahresprojekt 

Schon im Jänner formierte sich diese Idee in meinem Kopf, als ich meine Wollvorratskiste mal wieder nicht schließen konnte, weil sie übervoll war. Seit Jahrzehnten schleppe ich Wolle mit, die ich noch von meiner Mutter bekam. Aber Jägergrün ist so gar nicht meine Farbe. Also weg damit. Nicht in den Müll, sondern zuerst noch Spaß am Stricken haben und dann an eine Organisation abgeben, die es an die richtigen Empfänger abgibt. Im Jänner war ich fleißig und bin voll im Mützen stricken aufgegangen. Das hat so richtig Spaß gemacht und ich bin ganz gut darin geworden. Ein Paar Bananensocken waren auch dabei. Wenn man nicht weiß, wie groß die Empfängerfüße sind, dann ist so eine Schlauchsockenart genau richtig.
Ob der Name Jahresprojekt passt, weiß ich nicht so recht, weil ich solange stricke, bis die Wolle aufgebraucht ist, die ich nicht mehr haben will, oder ich die Lust verliere. Auf alle Fälle werden die bis zur nächsten kalten Saison gestrickten Werke gespendet.

Annual project 

This idea formed in my head back in January when I couldn't close my wool storage box because it was overflowing. For decades I've been lugging wool around that I got from my mother. But forest green isn't my color at all. So get rid of it. I don't throw it in the trash, have fun knitting it first and then give it to an organization that will give it to the right recipients. Back in January I was busy and really got into knitting hats. It was so much fun and I got pretty good at it. I also made banana socks. If you don't know how big the recipient's feet are, then tube socks like these are just right. 
I'm not sure if the name annual project is appropriate because I knit until I run out of wool that I don't want anymore or I lose interest. In any case, the pieces knitted till the next cold season will be donated.

Topf mit Blumen - Pot with Flowers

Wenn ich so durch meine Blogroll schaue, sehe ich viele Narzissen in Vasen und Töpfen. So auch bei mir. Anscheinend wächst langsam die Sehnsucht nach Frühling. Oder auch schnell :) In der Grünabteilung im Baumarkt konnte ich nicht an einer Blumenschale mit Primeln und Narzissen vorbei gehen. Und so kommt es, dass sich gelbe Narzissen das Küchenfenster mit dem Weihnachtsstern teilen. 

When I look through my blogroll, I see lots of daffodils in vases and pots. I have them too. Apparently the longing for spring is slowly growing. Or maybe it's fast :) In the green department at the hardware store, I couldn't pass up a flower bowl with primroses and daffodils. And so it happens that yellow daffodils share the kitchen window with the poinsettia I get at Christmas.

Monatscollage Jänner 2025

Monatsrückblick für Jänner: 

1. Das Jahr begann wie immer mit Schifahren am ersten Tag des Jahres. Diesmal am Stuhleck und wie man sieht ist die Schneelage alles anderes als berauschend. 
2. Im Jänner haben wir einen Spaziergang zum wunderschön vereisten Sebastianwasserfall in Puchberg am Schneeberg gemacht. Herrlich!
3. Ich hab in den sozialen Medien einen Film über die einfachste Art ein pochiertes Ei zu machen gesehen und es natürlich gleich ausprobiert. HIER zum Nachlesen.
4. Ich habe wieder Brot gebacken, Schwarzbrot und Toastbrot. Die Rezepte ohne Hefe gehen schneller als Kuchen backen. 
5. Mein neues Jahresprojekt stellt sich hier kurz vor. Ich habe beschlossen meinen jahrzehnte alten Wollvorrat aufzubrauchen. Ich stricke für Charityzwecke. Die Sachen, die entstehen spende ich. Geplant sind Mützen und Socken. Drei Mützen habe ich schon und es macht echt Spaß.
6. Im Dezember hat meine Tochter (19) ihren Führerschein gemacht und mein Mann und sie haben in den Ferien nach einem Auto gesucht und dann im Jänner gefunden. 50% hat sie selbst bezahlt und 50% haben wir gesponsert. 
7. Bei der Date-Night für meinen Mann und mich gab es Cocktails und Nachtisch. Tja, er weiß immer noch wie er mich rumkriegt 😏 
8. Und weil es uns allen soviel Freude macht, muss ich euch noch "Achtung Werbung" mein Lichterbäumchen zeigen. Nachdem die Weihnachtslichterkette diese Ecke des Zimmers nicht mehr ausleuchtete, war es mir dort zu finster. Und ich gebe gerne zu, dass mir diese Bäumchen in einem Weihnachtsfilm das erste Mal aufgefallen sind. Es ist bezaubernd!

A retrospect of January: 

1. The year began as always with skiing on the first day of the year. This time on the Stuhleck and as you can see the snow conditions are anything but exhilarating.
2. In January we took a walk to the beautifully frozen Sebastian waterfall in Puchberg am Schneeberg. Wonderful!
3. I saw a reel on social media about the easiest way to make a poached egg and of course tried it out straight away. Read more HERE.
4. I baked bread again, black bread and toast. The recipes without yeast are quicker than baking a cake.
5. My new annual project is briefly presented here. I have decided to use up my decades-old wool supply. I knit for charity purposes. I donate the things that are made. Hats and socks are planned. I already have three hats and it is really fun.
6. In December my daughter (19) got her driver's license and my husband and she looked for a car during the holidays and then found one in January. She paid 50% herself and we sponsored 50%.
7. Date night for my husband and me included cocktails and dessert. Well, he still knows how to get me 😏
8. And because it brings us so much joy, I have to show you my little tree of lights (advertising warning). After the Christmas lights stopped illuminating this corner of the room, it was too dark. And I must admit that I first noticed these trees in a Christmas film. It's enchanting!

12tel Blick 2025 - Jänner

Eine neue Runde des 12tel-Blicks beginnt. Bis vor ein paar Tagen wollte ich nicht mitmachen, weil ich kein geeignetes Motiv fand. Und dann war in Niederösterreich Wahlsonntag für die Gemeinderatswahlen und wir mussten in die örtliche Volks-/Musikschule zum Wahllokal. Und was soll ich sagen, als wir am Schulpark vorbei kamen, hatte ich mein Motiv gefunden. Es ist ein unaufgeregtes Foto, ein Last-Minute-Foto. Das Jännerbild präsentiert sich leer. Kein Schnee, keine Menschen, keine Autos. Ich hatte viele andere mit allem drauf, aber ich habe mich für dieses entschieden, weil es jetzt total ausbaufähig ist. Die Sicht ist Richtung Westen und nur am späten Nachmittag habe ich Gegenlicht. Die zwei sichtbaren Häuser sind Wohnhäuser, die Schule ist rechts hinter dem Baum und sieht man nicht. 

A new round of the photo challenge begins. Until a few days ago I didn't want to take part because I couldn't find a suitable photo motif. And then it was election Sunday in Lower Austria for the local council elections and we had to go to the polling station at the local elementary/music school. And what can I say, when we passed the school park I had found my subject. It is a calm photo, a last-minute photo. The January photo is empty. No snow, no people, no cars. I had lots of other pictures with everything on them, but I chose this one because it can be expanded upon. The view is towards the west and only in the late afternoon do I have backlight. The two visible houses are residential buildings, the school is on the right behind the tree and cannot be seen. 

Frühstück mit Ei - Yummy Breakfast

Pochiertes Ei - ganz einfach

Eigentlich war's ein früher Brunch. Meinen Kaffee hatte ich schon halb getrunken, als ich dachte, so getoastetes Brot mit Guacamole und pochiertem Ei wäre lecker. Ich habe schon die verschiedensten Möglichkeiten ausprobiert ein pochiertes Ei zu machen und es hat auch immer geklappt. Auf Instagram habe ich dann noch DIESES VIDEO gesehen, wo man ein kleines Küchensieb in kochendes Wasser hält und ein aufgeschlagenes Ei reingibt. Das Sieb muss engmaschig sein, ich hab das Wasser gesalzen und einen Spritzer Essig reingemacht. Probiert, geklappt und für gut befunden. Das ist wirklich die einfachste Methode zu einem pochierten Ei zu kommen. 

Avocado lange frisch halten

Avocado habe ich immer auf Vorrat zuhause. Die Lagerung mache ich wie schon früher in den Social Media gezeigt, und zwar so: Ich kaufe nur essfertige, reife Avocados. Die wasche und schrubbe ich heiß ab, dann kommen sie in einen Container mit Deckel in kaltes Wasser, möglichst bedeckt bis obenhin. Dann ab in den Kühlschrank. So halten sie ewig, also mindestens 2 Wochen. Ich hatte sie auch länger drinnen ohne Geschmacksverlust. Das funktioniert aber nur bei ganzen Früchten (hab gegoogelt, ist eine Frucht). Eine halbe Avocado gibt es bei uns nicht. Wir sind 3 Personen, da kommt alles weg.

Poached egg - the simple way

It was actually an early brunch. I had already drunk half of my coffee when I thought that toasted bread with guacamole and poached egg would be delicious. I have tried all sorts of different ways to make a poached egg and it always worked. Then I saw THIS VIDEO on Instagram where you hold a small kitchen colander in boiling water and put a beaten egg in it. The colander has to be fine-meshed, I salted the water and added a splash of vinegar. Tried it, worked and approved. It really is the easiest way to get a poached egg. 

Keeping avocado fresh for a long time 

I always have avocado in stock at home. I store it as I have seen on social media before, like this: I only buy ready-to-eat, ripe avocados. I wash and scrub them with hot water, then put them in a container with a lid in cold water, covered up to the top if possible. Then off to the fridge. That way they last forever, at least 2 weeks. I have had them in there for longer without losing flavor. But that only works with whole fruits (I googled it, it's a fruit). We don't eat half an avocado. There are three of us, so everything goes.

Monatscollage Dezember 2024

Monatsrückblick für Dezember: 

1. Mein Adventkranz bestand wieder aus Dingen, die ich bereits zuhause hatte. Übriggebliebene, teil angebrannte Kerzen, Pinienzapfen, verschiedene Kerzenhalter und alter Baumschmuck. Kann man in letzter Minute basteln und uns gefiel es.
2. Da der Hauptplatz in Wiener Neustadt mit der tollen Aktion des Ö3 Weihnachtswunders belegt war (Spendenaktion des größten Radiosenders des Landes), wo meine 2 Lieben natürlich dabei waren ...
3. ... siedelte der normalerweise dort ansässige Weihnachtsmarkt an vier verschiedene Orte in der Stadt. War auch schön und stimmungsvoll. 
4. Wir besuchten auch den sehr schönen, idyllischen Adventmarkt in Rohr im Gebirge, wo man sich eine 'lebende Krippe' anschauen konnte. 
5. Ein weiteres Highlight war die bestandene Führerscheinprüfung meiner Tochter (19). Ein Meilenstein im Erwachsenenleben meiner Kleinen. 
6. Als kleine Geschenke habe ich nochmal Dubaischokolade angefertigt. Die Zutaten hatte ich ja noch vom ersten Mal zuhause. Uns schmeckt sie sehr gut und ich glaube auch den Beschenkten. Jedenfalls kam sie gut an und jeder hat sich drüber gefreut. 
7. Gehäkelt als Deko, Baumschmuck oder Geschenkanhänger habe ich Lebkuchenmänner und -frauen. Kann man sich HIER genauer anschauen. 
8. Wir haben immer eine klassische Nordmanntanne als Christbaum und haben festgestellt: Je größer die Kinder, desto kleiner die Weihnachtsbäume :) 
9. Als Weihnachtsgeschenk bekam mein Mann einen Plattengriller, mit Platten für Toast und Belgische Waffeln. War ja klar, was bei mir und meiner Tochter besser ankam. 
10. Tja, und zwischen den Jahren wurde natürlich extrem viel gegessen und gespielt und Zeit miteinander verbracht. Und schon war das Jahr wieder rum.

A retrospect of December: 

1. My Advent wreath was made of things I already had at home. Leftover, partially burnt candles, pine cones, various candle holders and old tree ornaments. You can make the wreath at the last minute and we liked it.
2. As the main square in Wiener Neustadt, my district capital, was occupied by the great Ö3 Christmas miracle event (fundraising event of the country's largest radio station), where my two loved ones were of course there to see and enjoy the guest stars ...
3. ... the Christmas market was set up in four different places in the city. It was beautiful and atmospheric. 
4. We also visited the very beautiful, idyllic Advent market in Rohr im Gebirge, where you could see a 'living nativity scene'. 
5. Another highlight was my daughter (19) passing her driving test. A milestone in my little one's adult life. 
6. For small gifts I made Dubai chocolate again. I still had the ingredients at home from the first time. We really like it and I think the recipients did too. In any case, it was well received and everyone was happy about it.
7. I crocheted gingerbread men and women as decorations, tree ornaments or gift tags. You can take a closer look HERE.
8. We always have a classic Nordmann fir as a Christmas tree and have noticed that the bigger the children, the smaller the Christmas trees :)
9. As a Christmas present, my husband got a grill with plates for toast and Belgian waffles. It was obvious what my daughter and I liked better.
10. Well, and between Christmas and New Year, we ate and played a lot and spent time together. And then the year was over again.

12tel Blick 2024 - Dezember

Ausgeblickt ist! Das Jahr ist fertig. Der Kreis hat sich geschlossen. Gerne hätte ich noch ein Foto mit Schnee gehabt, aber die paar Stunden, wo bei uns Schnee lag, habe ich leider versäumt Fotos zu machen. Mein Thema war den Fluss Piesting auf einer Fußgängerbrücke stehend in beide Richtungen zu fotografieren. Und in der Collage sieht man, dass sich viel getan hat.

The photo challenge is accomplished! The year is over. The circle has come full circle. I would have loved to have had another photo with snow, but unfortunately I missed taking photos during the few hours when there was snow here. My theme was to photograph the Piesting river in both directions while standing on a pedestrian bridge. And in the collage you can see there was a lot going on this year.
