Wat isn dat? What's that?

Ich habe schon mal darüber berichtet, dass ich das tolle Buch Strikke Dukker gewonnen habe und jetzt habe ich Lust ein Püppchen zu stricken. Nach dem Big Foot zu urteilen, wird das Püppchen gar nicht mal so klein, etwa 40 cm. Das erste Pupperl werde ich nach Anleitung stricken, aber die nächsten werde ich etwas verkleinern. Sehr praktisch erweist sich das aus Versehen zu kurz bestellte Nadelspiel. Ja, ich wusste auch nicht, dass es da zwei Längen gibt. Aber ideal zum Pupperl stricken. Schwierig gestaltete sich auch Wolle in Hautfarbe zu finden, jetzt wird das Püppchen halt wie nach einer Kur mit Selbstbräuner ausschauen ;)

I've been telling you that I have won the great book Strikke Dukker and now I would like to knit a doll. After the Big Foot to judge the doll is not too small, about 40 cm (15.7 in). The first doll I will knit after instructions, but the next I make a little smaller. Very handy are the double pointed needles that I accidentally ordered too short. Yes, I also did not know that there are two lengths. But they are ideal for knitting dolls. It was difficult to find wool in skin color, now the doll will look like after a treatment with self tanning cream ;)

Sky Scarf 05-2013

Wie die Zeit vergeht. Mai ist auch schon vorbei und er war sehr kalt. Temperaturen sieht man leider nicht am Schal. Der Himmel war zwar viel blau, aber es hatte nur 8°-15°C. Momentan regnet es sehr viel - Hochwasser steigt an vielen Orten.

How time flies. May is already over and was very cold. Temperatures can not be seen on the scarf. The sky was often blue but it had only 8°-15°C (45-60F). Currently it rains a lot - flood rises in many places.

Auch wenn der Sommer auf sich warten lässt, im Garten passieren doch ein paar schöne Dinge. 

Although we are still waiting for summer there are happening some few nice things in the garden. 

Zierlauch (Allium)

Old Clothes - New Dress

Ich bin auf den Geschmack gekommen. Statt die zu kleine Kleidung meines Mädchens zu horten, wird alles in große Teile geschnitten. Dann wird frisch fröhlich drauf losgepatcht. Sagt man das so? Inspiration war dieses Kleidchen (Link zu Pinterest). Es wurden vier Shirts und Reste eines Pyjamas verarbeitet. Aufgrund der kalten Temperaturen gibt es leider kein Foto am Modell. Und auf dem Tisch liegt schon wieder Nachschub. 

I love it. Instead of hoarding my girlies too small clothes, I cut everything into large pieces. Then I patch them together. If you say that so? Inspiration was this dress. The dress was made of four shirts and parts of a pyjamas. Due to the cold temperatures there are unfortunately no pictures on the model. And there are a lot of another clothes pieces on the table again.

Pieplants Cake – Rhabarberkuchen

Im Garten meiner Freundin gedeiht Rhabarber prächtig, bei mir leider nicht. Und sie mag ihn nicht mal besonders. Daher war sie mehr als froh, dass ich ihr die Ernte abnahm. Einen Teil habe ich zu einem wahnsinnig leckeren Kuchen verarbeitet und den anderen Teil friere ich ein und wird später mal zur Erdbeermarmelade gemischt.

In the garden of my friend pieplants (rhubarbs) thrives superb, unfortunately not with me. And they do not even particularly like it. Therefore she was more than glad that I took her harvest. Some of them I've made into a incredibly delicious cake and the other part I freeze and then mix it with strawberries for jam. 

Recipe:

175 g/0.39 lb/6.17 oz sugar

175 g/0.39 lb/6.17 oz butter

175 g/0.39 lb/6.17 oz flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

3 egg yolks

3 tablespoons lukewarm water

500 g/1.1 lb pieplants, trimmed, cut into small pieces

Meringue:

3 egg whites

175 g/0.39 lb/6.17 oz sugar

Preheat oven to 175°C/347F. Prepare the dough, pour into a baking dish and add the rhubarbs pieces on it. Put in the oven for 25 minutes. Meringue: Beat the egg white until stiff and add the sugar, mix well. Spread the meringue after 25 minutes baking time on the cake and bake another 20 minutes. Let cool the cake briefly after baking time in the form.

Ich hab meinen Mann nur sechs Mal erinnern müssen und schon hängt das Ding. Vor drei Jahren bekam ich zum Geburtstag ein Vogelhaus und seitdem wartete es auf einen Nagel. Aber gestern standen anscheinend die Sterne günstig und nach ein paar Minuten war es getan. So genug gelästert über meinen lieben Mann, es gibt ja auch bei mir Sachen, die seit Jahren herumliegen, im Verborgenen, nicht so offensichtlich, drum nennt man sie auch UFO’s ;)

I have to remind my husband only six times and the thing is already hanging. Three years ago I got a birdhouse as birthday gift and since then it waited for a nail. But yesterday were apparently the stars are favorable and after a few minutes it was done. So enough tattled about my dear husband, there are also things with me that lying around for years, in secret, not so obvious, that's why they are also called UFO's ;)

Recycled Old Clothes - Wiederverwertung alter Kleidung

Beim Aussortieren der zu kleinen Sachen meiner Kleinen werde ich immer ganz wehmütig. Manche Aufdrucke sind zu süß und die Kleidung fast zu schade zum Weggeben. Daher habe ich mal wieder etwas recycelt und aus alten Pullis und Pyjamas ein Kleidchen genäht. Drei Oberteile und ein Nachthemd stecken in der neuen Tunika. Eine gute Gelegenheit einen neuen Schnitt auszuprobieren. Dieser hier ist Primavera von Lillesol und passt perfekt. 

When sorting out the too small clothes of my girlie I am getting wistfully. Some imprints are too sweet and the clothes almost too good for giving away. Therefore I recycled some old shirts and pajamas and sewed a dress. Three tops and a nightgown stick in the new tunic. A good opportunity to try a new cut. This one is Primavera from Lillesol and fits perfectly.

We Love Castles - Wir lieben Burgen

Der gestrige Muttertag hielt noch einige Überraschungen für mich bereit. Zu Mittag hörte das miese Wetter plötzlich auf und die Sonne strahlte. Ich recherchierte kurz im Internet nach einem Ausflugsziel. Da wir Burgen lieben und wir in der Nähe des Burgenlandes leben, das nicht umsonst so heißt, haben wir uns für die Besichtigung der Burg Schlaining entschieden. Die Burg ist ein Schmuckstück, tolle Lage, super restauriert und enthält außerdem das hochinteressante Europäische Museum für Frieden. 

Yesterday's Mother’ Day was providing some surprises for me. At noon the bad weather suddenly stopped and the sun came out. I researched the internet for a short excursion. Because we love castles, and we live in the vicinity of the Burgenland (which means Castle County of Austria), we decided to visit the Schlaining Castle. The castle is a gem, great location, great restored and also contains the most interesting European Peace Museum.

Cell Phone Holder - Handy Garage

Letztens hatte ich wieder Plastikflaschen übrig und mir fiel dieses Tutorial (Pinterest Link) ein. An einer Flasche übte ich, die landete gleich mal im Müll und diese zwei Handy Ladestationen benutzen wir jetzt. Man könnte noch viel verbessern, aber für etwa 10 Minuten Arbeit kann es sich doch sehen lassen und vor allem es funktioniert so, wie es soll. Und ich habe eine Verwendung für meine Washi Tapes gefunden.

Recently I had some plastic bottles left and I remembered this tutorial (link to Pinterest). I practiced on one bottle, which landed in the trash and these two cell phone holders we use now. You could still improve a lot, but for about 10 minutes of work it is very OK and most importantly it works as it should. And I've found a use for my washi tapes.

Quickly Made Short-sleeved Shirts – Schnell gemachte Kurzarm-Shirts

Beim Wegräumen der dünnen Wintershirts meiner Kleinen, bedauerte ich, dass sie die nächste kalte Saison schon wieder zu klein sein werden. Sind zwar nur gekaufte Shirts, aber trotzdem schade. Gut, dass mir die Idee kam, einfach die Ärmel abzuschneiden. Und bei dieser Gelegenheit könnte ich auch mal die Ärmel so machen, wie ich sie haben will. Mich ärgert immer, dass die Kurzarm-Shirts verkappte Trägerlaiberl mit Schulterflügerl sind. Für mich bedeutet Kurzarm, dass der Ärmel bis mindestens Mitte des Oberarms geht. Aber das ist wohl wieder modische Ansichtssache. 

Drei Shirts sind mir in die Hände gefallen und ich habe drei verschiedene Bündchenvarianten ausprobiert. Einmal das sogenannte „Bündchen für Faule“, dann einen Wellensaum (da ist noch ein weißes Garn dabei, aber ich wechsle nicht immer alle Fäden passend. Macht ihr das immer?) und noch einen Abschluss, wo ich ein andersfarbiges Stoffstück (in dem Fall ein altes Unterhemd) dran nähte. 

When putting away my girlies thin winter shirts, I regretted that they will be too small the next cold season. Although, only bought shirts, but still a shame. Good thing I got the idea to cut off the sleeves. And on this occasion I could make the sleeves the way I like them. It annoys me that the short-sleeved shirts have almost no sleeves. For me short sleeve means that the sleeves goes until at least the middle of the upper arm. But that's a matter of opinion. I trimmed three shirts but I think there are more to find.

Sky Scarf 04-2013

Dieses Projekt wächst mir immer mehr ans Herz. Schon in der Früh bin ich neugierig, wie der Himmel zu Mittag (meine Referenzzeit) sein wird. Über das Wetter im April kann man echt nicht meckern, wenn man sich das Bild anschaut.

Neck Pillow - Leseknochen

So, jetzt hab ich auch einen genäht. Das niedliche Pölsterchen hab ich schon bei so vielen von euch bewundert. Dieses hier ist für meinen süßen Patenbuben, der bald Erstkommunion feiert. Anleitung ist von sew4home, nur habe ich bei meinem Kissen vom Schnitt seitlich etwa 1,5 cm links und rechts weggenommen, weil es mir sehr groß vorkam und nun passt es perfekt.

Now I've made one too. The cute pillow I've admired on so many blogs. This one is for my sweet godchild who will soon be celebrating his First Communion. Instructions from HERE, but I have taken away about 1.5 cm (approx. 1 inch) on the left and right side of my pillow because it seemed to me very big and now it fits perfectly.

Dreamcatcher - Traumfänger

Meine Kleine schläft zwar wie ein Stein und braucht es eigentlich nicht, aber ... "Wenn Yakari so'n Ding hat, will ich das auch". Gemeint ist ein Traumfänger. Schon letztes Jahr wollte ich einen machen, aber irgendwie nie realisiert. Alle Zutaten hatte ich schon lange im Haus. Federn sind sogar echt im Garten gefunden. Damit sie keimfrei werden, einfach in einen Plastiksack geben und für ein paar Tage in den Gefrierschrank stecken. Es muss ja nicht unbedingt ein gespanntes Netz im Ring sein, die bösen Träume können auch in einer Häkelrosette hängen bleiben.

While my little one sleeps like a rock and does not need it actually, but ... "If Yakari has this thing, I want that too." Meant is a dreamcatcher. Already last year I wanted to make one, but somehow never realized. All the ingredients I had in the house. Real feathers are even found in the garden. To get them sterile putt hem in a plastic bag for a few days in the freezer. It needn't to be a net in the ring, bad dreams can indeed get stuck in a crocheted rosette.

Forsythia

Endlich blühen sie! Nur wenige andere Pflanzen prägen das österreichische Garten- Landschafts- und Stadtbild so sehr wie die Forsythie oder Goldglöckchen. Sie bringt die erste richtige Farbe in den Garten nach dem langen Winter und wird deshalb wahrscheinlich so geliebt. Und sie steht auch bei uns im Garten. Ökologisch vielleicht nicht besonders wertvoll, aber der Seele tut sie einfach gut.

Finally they bloom! Few other plants dominate the Austrian garden- land- and cityscape as much as the forsythia. It brings the first real color in the garden after a long winter and is therefore loved that much. And it is also in our garden. Ecologically perhaps not really valuable, but so good for our souls.

Men's Socks - Männer Socken

Gut, dass ich so dicke Wolle hatte (noch aus dem letzten Jahrhundert), denn Socken für Männerfüße ziehen sich echt. Diese haben ein attraktives Flechtmuster, das auch meinem Mann gefällt, dem neuen Besitzer der Socken.

Time For Gardening - Zeit für Gartenarbeit

Dieses Wochenende steht ganz im Zeichen von Gartenarbeit. Endlich schneefrei, kein Regen und Temperaturen über Null, da muss man sofort loslegen. Ich glaube jetzt mal einfach dran, dass kein Schnee mehr kommt und habe ein paar Salatpflanzen in die Erde gesteckt. Und dann wird noch wie wild geschnitten. Sträucher, Bäume, Äste. Und die Terrasse wird für die Benutzung hergerichtet. Angeblich *flüster* soll es nächste Woche bis 20°C geben ☼☺

This weekend is all about gardening. Finally, no snow, no rain and temperatures above zero, so you have to start right away. I hope there won’t be snow anymore and I have put a few lettuce plants into the garden bed. And then we will cut like crazy. Shrubs, trees, branches. And the terrace must be prepared for use. Supposedly * whisper * next week temperatures are to 20°C (68F) ☼ ☺

Gingerbreadhouse in Spring - Lebkuchenhaus im Frühling

Kürzlich habe ich im Supermarkt spottbillig ein Set für ein Lebkuchenhaus gekauft. Heute ist Palmsonntag und es schneit, da muss der Frühling echt damit rechnen, dass nochmal Adventbastelei herausgekramt wird.

Recently I bought very cheap at the supermarket a set for a gingerbread house. Today is Palm Sunday, and it's snowing. So spring must expect that people do some advent crafting.

Coffee Snack - Kaffeejause

Kulinarisch war's heute nicht schlecht! Draußen war's so ungemütlich, also hab ich mich mal wieder in der Küche betätigt. Frühstück war heute aus der Bäckerei, dann gab's zu Mittag Pariser Schnitzel von der Pute mit Reis und Preiselbeeren und am Nachmittag zur Kaffeejause Plundertascherl. Für alle Nicht-Ost-Österreicher und sonstige überregionale Mitleser - Jause ist hier was SÜßES. Musste ich als Oberösterreicherin in Wien auch lernen. Kaffeejause gibt's nach einer nicht definierten Wartezeit nach dem Mittagessen und ist hier nicht etwa ein Wurstbrot oder eine Speckjause, sondern meistens Guglhupf, Kolatschen oder Kekse. Genau das richtige für ein Schleckermaul wie mich, deshalb habe ich mich hier auch niedergelassen (unter anderem).

Today was regarded culinary a good day! Outside, it was so uncomfortable, so I did some action in the kitchen. Breakfast was today from the bakery, then for lunch Parisian Schnitzel from turkey with rice and cranberries and in the afternoon coffee snack with Danish pastry. For all non-East Austrians and other international readers – coffee snack is something SWEET here. As an Upper Austrian I had to learn in Vienna. Coffee snack follows after an undefined waiting period after lunch and is not a sandwich or a bacon snack, but mostly Guglhupf, Kolachen or biscuits. Just right for a sweet tooth like me, so I have settled here (among other things).

Bunny Garland - Häschengirlande

Nachdem bei euch schon wochenlang die Hasen hoppeln, habe ich mit meiner Kleinen auch welche gebastelt. Aber wieder seeeehr simpel und einfach.
Aus dem Internet eine Vorlage für Hasen ausdrucken, das Kind darf sie anmalen, ausschneiden, zusammenkleben und ich darf wieder mit meinem Laminiergerät spielen. Dann habe ich die Häschen nur mehr noch an einer Häkelschnur aufgehängt. Fertig!

Heute ist bei uns letzter Schultag und dann sind Osterferien. Yeah! Schöne Ferien!

I saw your easter crafts and decos for weeks on your blogs, so now we made some too. A bunny garland but again veeeery simple and easy.

Print from the internet a template for rabbits, your child may paint and cut out the bunnies and I can play with my laminator. Then I hung up the bunnies on a crocheted cord. Done!

Low Motivation - Motivationstief

Ich hänge etwas fest. Der Husten ist hartnäckig. Gestern hat's wieder geschneit. Mir ist kalt und Lust habe ich zu rein gar nichts. Kann nicht mal sagen, dass es an der Frühjahrsmüdigkeit liegt. Bin nicht müde und es ist nicht Frühjahr. Hab einfach zu nichts Lust. Anscheinend kann ich nicht mal ordentliche Sätze schreiben. Na ja, können tät ich schon, aber wollen tu ich nicht.
Momentan lese ich wieder viel. Meine Freundin, die Gute, hat mich mit dieser Provinzkrimi-Serie von Rita Falk versorgt (eigentlich sind's vier Bücher, eins muss noch im Regal liegen). Ich finde sie herrlich amüsant!

I'm stuck a bit. The cough is persistent. Yesterday it was snowing again. I'm cold and I am not in the mood to do anything. Can not even say that's the spring fever. I'm not tired and it's not spring. I am so not motivated. Apparently I can not even write proper sentences. Well, I would be able but I do not want to do.

Currently I am reading a lot. My friend, good girl, has provided me with this series. I find the books just wonderful!

Socks From Socks - Socken aus Socken

So, ich lebe wieder, so halbwegs. Krank sein ist echt das Letzte. Letzte Woche habe ich meiner Kleinen ein neues Paar dicke Socken gestrickt. Ganz schlicht, einfach und schnell. Dafür habe ich zwei Paar zu kleine Socken aufgeribbelt. Sind auch schon an den Füßen.

So, I'm back, passably. Being ill is really the pits. Last week I knit my little one a new pair of thick socks. Quite simply, easily and quickly. For that I have unraveled two pairs of socks which were too small. They are already on her feet.

Snowdrops in the Sun - Schneeglöckchen in der Sonne

Gestern haben wir uns erinnert, dass der gelbe Ball am Himmel 'Sonne' heißt. Nach vielen trüben Tagen zeigte sie sich endlich. Immer wieder konnte ich beobachten, wie Leute beim Warten vor der Schule, auf dem Supermarkt Parkplatz, ihre Gesichter gen Sonne streckten und die Augen schlossen und ein paar Sekunden die Wärme genossen und sich freuten. So wie ich :) 

Today we remembered that the yellow ball in the sky is called 'sun'. After many cloudy days she showed up at last. Again and again I was able to see people waiting in front of the school, in the supermarket parking lot, stretching their faces towards the sun and closed their eyes for a few seconds and enjoyed the warmth and rejoiced. Like me :)

Sky Scarf 02-2013

Wow! Schon wieder ein Monat vorbei?! OK, der Februar ist zwei Tage kürzer, aber macht das soviel aus?
Zeit also wieder mal meinen Sky Scarf zu präsentieren. Der Monat schließt wieder wie im Jänner mit einem schönen Himmelblau. Das rosa Bändchen kennzeichnet das Monatsende.

Wow! Another month gone? OK, February is two days shorter but does it matter so much?

Time to present my Sky Scarf again. The month closes as in January with a beautiful sky blue. The pink ribbon marks the end of a month.

Und so sieht der Schal bis jetzt aus. Ich habe festgestellt, dass ich mir noch ein paar Farben besorgen muss. Ein richtig verwaschenes Hellblau und ein bauschiges Hellgrau. Mal schauen, ob ich sowas bekomme ;)

And this is the scarf so far. I think I still have to buy a few colors. A washy light blue and a bulgy light gray. We'll see if I get those colors ;)

Kind Of Addictive - Irgendwie süchtig

Obwohl die finstere Zeit bald vorbei ist, sind wir bestens für die nächste gerüstet. Schön langsam kommt Routine auf und das Schmelzen und Gießen des Wachs geht relativ flott. Wie ihr seht, greife ich schon auf Marmelade- und Gurkengläser zurück, also doppeltes Recycling (eigentlich 3-fach, weil ich auch die Deckel für ein Recyclingprojekt verwendete). Und der Sack mit den Kerzenresten ist erst zur Hälfte leer. Das schöne Gelb in der Kerze habe ich mit Färbepastillen erreicht, auch das Grün. Das Blau färbt leider fast gar nicht, da kommt nur ein blasses Lila raus.

Although the dark period is almost over, we are well prepared for the next. Slowly there comes a routine and the melting and molding of the wax is fast and easy. As you can see, I use already jam and pickle jars, so this is double recycling (actually triple because I used the lids for another recycling project). And the bag with the remains of candles is only half empty. The beautiful yellow in the candles I have achieved with dye waxpills, also the green. The blue color unfortunately dyes bad and comes out as only a pale purple.

For My Feet - Für meine Füße

Meine Socken für meine kalten Füße sind fertig. Und zwar Bettsocken. Mit kalten Füßen kann ich nicht einschlafen, daher liegen immer ein paar Söckchen parat. Manchmal habe ich sogar welche im Sommer an, die sind dann aber aus Baumwolle.

Muster: Secret-Shell-Socks
Größe: 39
Wolle: Sockenwolle, 4-fädig, selbst gefärbt (75% Schurwolle, 25% Polyamid)
Verbrauch: 60 Gramm

My socks for my cold feet are done. Namely bed socks. I can not fall asleep with cold feet, therefore are always a few socks beside my bed. Sometimes I even wear socks in the summer, which are then made of cotton.

Heute mal wieder daran gedacht. Den 12. Tag des Monats dokumentiert man mit 12 Fotos. Mehr zu diesem Thema findet man bei "Draußen nur Kännchen".

So wie immer in der Früh: Blick nach dem Wetter. Aber heute hat mich das nur am Rande interessiert, da wir verschlafen haben. Mein Handy (Wecker) hat sich in der Nacht einfach ausgeschaltet (Akku war frisch aufgeladen). Mein Mann war zum Glück noch zu Hause und hat uns 30 Minuten vor Schulbeginn aus den Federn geworfen. Das kann ja heute ein Tag werden?!

As usual in the morning: a look at the weather. But today, I wasn’t very interested in the weather, as we have overslept. My phone (alarm) has turned itself off at night (battery was freshly charged). My husband was luckily still at home and threw us 30 minutes before the start of school out of bed. OK, that is going to be a day?!

Making Candles - Kerzen gießen

Aus der letzten Weihnachtszeit hat sich ein großer Sack Kerzenreste angesammelt. Nach einigem überlegen, habe ich mich entschieden, daraus neue Kerzen zu gießen. Als meine Freundin das hörte, schenkte sie mir auch gleich ihren noch größeren Kerzenrestesack. Naja, wenn schon, denn schon. Ich besorgte Docht und Gießform und auch gleich einen doppelwandigen Topf dazu. Mit der Menge an Wachs werde ich öfter dabeistehen. Aber mit dem Ergebnis bin ich zufrieden und es ging auch alles ohne Kleckserei über die Bühne.

From last Christmas season I collected a big bag candle remains. After some thinking, I decided to make new candles. When my friend heard that, she gave me her even bigger bag of candle remains. Well, ok. I got wick and mold and also a double-walled pot. With the amount of wax I'll often make this. But I'm satisfied with the result and it all went well with no mess.

Sieht etwas wild aus, schmeckte aber lecker.
Gehackten Zwiebel anrösten, gewürfelten geräucherten Tofu dazugeben, mit einem guten Schuss Sojasauce aufgießen, Gemüse nach Belieben dazu, weich kochen lassen. CousCous zubereiten und untermischen. Nochmal mit Sojasauce und Zitronensaft abschmecken. Fertig!

It looks like a huddle but tasted delicious.

Sauté chopped onion, put in diced smoked tofu, pour a good shot of soy sauce, vegetables as desired, leave until soft. Cook and stir in couscous. Season again with soy sauce and lemon juice. Done!

Schulferien ... Kind beschäftigen - also wird gebastelt. Bitte um Nachsicht, wie ihr vielleicht ja schon wisst, ich bin keine Bastlerin. Aus den Deckeln von Marmelade- und Gurkengläsern haben wir hübsche Spielketten gebastelt.

School holidays ... child entertainment – so we do some crafting. Please bear with me, as you may already know, I'm no crafter. From the lids of jam and pickle jars we have created beautiful necklaces. 

Und weil sich der Aufwand nur für eine Kette nicht lohnt, haben wir gleich viele gebastelt und auch die Freundinnen des Mädchens mit bedacht.

And because of the effort, we made not only one necklace but some more and also considered the friends of the girlie.
